Ok, I''m on the hunt after seeing MakingTheGrade''s devine bar cut one.

Whilst browsing I noticed this. The seller has good feedback. I just want something to play with, maybe set later on BUT refuse to buy it it''s going to a. not actually be tourmaline or worse b. turn out to be coloured glass.......

Also like this one too. Need honest opions. Obviously I''m not looking for top stuff here but both look rather pretty...... worth it?

3ct chrome tourmaline should be pretty expensive. Personally, both photos look way too good to be true, specially in $0.99 auction with no reserve. The colour is too saturated and the stones are too clean.

Did you look provengem and sincerelygems up in toolhaus? There are a lot of complains about colour not matching the picture and clarity issues. There are also complaints about synthetics being passed off as natural.

I wouldn''t buy any of those. Sorry.

Both chrome tourmalines look awesome in the pictures but the price is unrealistic. It’s one of those too good to be true prices because something with that bright green colour in those sizes are going to be much MUCH more. My internal sirens are going off for both chromes.

I agree with both Lady Disdain and Chrono that this seems too good to be true. While we all love a good deal IMHO this isn''t one....

There''s a myriad of bright "chrome-green" looking tourmalines on ebay. In realiity, they end up often being extinct, too grey, and very undesirable. The prices reflect this, and that photo looks tampered with.

All of the above again plus they are so clean those tourmaline.
I would think that since they show dichroism they are likely that synthetic Tourmalike.

The photos have been for sure tampered with. Looks like they tried to use a few layers of green hue on top to me.

If you have someone you trust on ebay, then certainly buy from them. ebay can be something else when it comes to gems.

Hi guys, did you noticed that these are just "Green tourmalines'' with ''Chrome green'' colors as stated in the auction. Moreover the origin is Namibia. I think Chrome Tourmaline should be from Tanzania.

"Chrome green" is a misnomer, like "Cobalt blue" when referencing the color on blue spinels, or "Paraiba blue tourmaline." The intention of these phrases is to deceive the uneducated buyer into thinking they're getting a real chrome tourmaline, cobalt spinel, or paraiba tourmaline, when in fact, the colors just resemble those varieties of stones. When the seller uses phrases like that, he's not really breaking any rules, but he's not easily revealing the truth either.

Buyer beware.

Even though the stones might not be true chrome tourmalines, the colour is still too good to be true for the price.

Thanks for the info. I decided not to waste my money so didn''t buy them.

It''s always difficult when friends here said it''s not what we think.

But they help us not to waste our money and time.

I think it''s a good decision HotPozzum!

Like Chrono said to me before... you will find THE stone another day!

Well I am glad others got to you before I did Hottie.

I''d have about as much faith in a vendor called "SincerelyGems" who posted such dubious looking pictures as I would in Mr Gailey putting the toilet seat down.

Good call.
