I just picked up my 10th anniversary upgrade - yay! First, my old ring for reference:
It was a pretty plain white gold 3-stone setting with two .25 carat light blue sapphires on the sides. I really did like it, but over the years I’ve been wanting more and more bling (as per usual around here!)
So I set off on getting an upgrade for my 10th anniversary and had a few different ideas:
1) Keep a simple setting but get a bigger center stone
2) Keep my center stone but upgrade to a blingier setting
3) Get a completely different look, such as an anniversary band
One of my very favorite pieces in the last few years has been my Cartier Trinity ring. I love the look of the three different golds, especially rose gold, so when I saw this new setting, it appealed to me! It’s a little unique, which I also like, and reminds me of my Trinity in both shape and color. I started looking at bigger stones to put in it, but really hesitated. I didn’t think I’d feel very sentimental about my original stone but as I stood there facing the reality of getting rid of it, I froze and decided to keep my original stone, at least for now. In the end, I’m glad I did - I think it turned out great!
The center stone is a 1.01 carat H VS2. The new setting is tri-toned (two white gold, two rose gold, and one yellow gold “swoop”) and has 1.76 carats of diamonds on the bands. I don’t have a “real” camera right now (other than my massive zoom lens) so cell phone will have to suffice for now.
It’s so fun to have something new!!
