Hi, everyone. I asked for advice a few months ago at https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/halo-cushion-for-a-small-finger-larger-budget.207297/ and decided to get a placeholder ring to propose with, to follow with a permanent ring we could buy together. Well, phase 1 is done, and I said I'd share the results.
I wanted to get something she'd want to keep wearing as a right-hand ring, but non-traditional enough that she'd want to follow through on phase 2 I bought a 2ct trillion-cut synthetic alexandrite, because she loves purple. The stone is fully teal in daylight, but I've never managed to take a picture like that.
I brought it over to Suetake Brothers in San Francisco and showed Akira a few pictures of rings I knew she liked. I loved working with him. He told me I was taking a risk but promised he'd make something beautiful, and he certainly did! I successfully proposed a few weeks ago, and we're both really happy with the ring.
Now onto phase 2! She's still leaning towards a tapered french cut setting with a cushion, but now she's a lot more certain and comfortable talking about it with me. I may come back for advice on that soon.
