The capital building in Topeka is just beautiful! We took a day trip there yesterday with the kids and got some shots of the architecture. It''s really stunning. My husband got some shots going into the dome. I''m really fearful of heights and although I think I could have managed to go up if it had just been the two of us, trying to keep track of the kids while going up was just too much for me. Thankfully my 5 year old didn''t want to go up too high, either or I''d have been in trouble.

Looking up at the dome.

Here are the coffered ceilings in the room where the senate meets. They had just adjourned yesterday, and usually the public is not allowed to go in there, but someone stayed in there with us and allowed us to take pictures.

Casey got a shot off of the stairs that lead to the balcony outside the dome. They got as far as the bottom of that staircase when they decided not to go any further. I''m not even sure the pictures really tell the tale of how incredibly high this is.

OOps, forgot to attatch.

Casey also got a fantastic shot of some of the stained glass. There is so much more, but hopefully if you are in Topeka you'll be intrigued enough to go see it for yourselves. They have beautiful marble staircases. It's just amazing. I wish we lived near DC, I would love to tour the government buildings.

Thanks, Kcoursolle and Skippy! We had such a great time! We're trying to think of new places to go. And I am having a lot of fun with my camera.
