I''m very impressed by pictures of clear arrow patterns I see posted here (regular light - not red scope pictures). I guess it''s all in the lighting - a well guarded secret by vendors who know how, as I understand it.

I have a Fuji A-310 digital camera - not great on closeups. Attached picture is the best I can do using macro mode and highest resolution. Have limited time to photograph - the fiancee wants to wear the darn thing all the time! Diamond is a .90 ct.

That looks cool Z.
I don''t blame her for "wanting to wear it all the time".

Slammie mentioned that she read on this forum as well: to take a picture of arrows, try putting the stone/ ring on a window sill with the light coming from behind.
I've also noticed that as long as there is a light source (eg. lamp) behind the diamond, it is much easier for the arrows to be photographed. The 2 of us are just consumers, not vendors.

You need to get the camera closer - the black arrows are the lens reflection - think about the blacvk from an an ideal-scope lens.

The way I photographed arrows on my diamond was to fold a paper into a tube, set the ring in a jewelry box and shoot the picture thru the tube. I did this outside with the camera rested on something to hold it very still. You have to adjust the length of the tube to where your camera can shoot good pics in macro.
