I have a couple of pendants I haven''t worn in years. Was wondering if it''s possible at all to turn them into clasps, and if someone like Pearl Paraside could do it?

There''s one in particular I want to use for my freshwaters and make them into a double strand. What do you guys think? doable? Or should I leave it alone?

My other option is to sell the jewelry I don''t wear. But I''d rather find a use for it

I have no idea.. but it''s really pretty!!

Yes I suppose that PP can do it. I think it''s not so difficult. Just must remove the rings and polish the edges then add single ring on both side with a cap and post attached to one ring. That''s going to work as a pendant and it''s probably not be expensive.

Oh wow that would be gorgeous! I think any competent bench could do the conversion on the pendant. Do you string? If so I would do the restringing yourself so you can choose which ones go where- always entertaining! Otherwise maybe send to PP or to Elana''s stringer.

I think that is a great idea to try to make that into a pendant. It certainly wouldn''t hurt to ask PP or Elana''s stringer if she could do it....

It''s brilliant Elle.

Looks gorgeous, what a fabulous idea. You can turn the necklace with pendant in front for formal look or turn to back when you want to be more casual- what a great idea. You''d have a strand that can look two entirely different ways.

Thanks for your opinions.

I went to two local jewelers today, said they can do it. Both are charging me about $150 for the work though. I''m gonna contact PP and see how much they would charge.

LGK- I don''t know how to string

Gorgeous pendant - it will look very nice as a clasp.

I think you should have a good benchperson do this, with a lot of repair experience. I have no idea if PP has a repair person in their outfit and, if they do, how good they are.

By the way, did any of the people you talked to show you exactly what they are doing and how the clasp is going to work?

One of the jewelers tried explaining it but I didn''t completely follow.
The jist of it was, the end of the two strands would first be connected to eachother to form one point on either side, and then they''d be connected to the pendant.

I haven''t decided to go with either jeweler because I think their quotes are too high. Just haven''t had the chance to shop around yet.
