Hi everyone,

I need some advice on what type of tux would look best with my cream colored wedding gown. We were recently at a tux rental store and the sales lady said that if my dress is cream and my fiance wore a classic tux with a black bow tie and white shirt, my dress would look "dirty" against his white shirt. What do you think about her comment. I kinda have my heart set on the classic tux, but don''t want to look like an odd ball. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This has been discussed a lot, and I think that it''s pretty ridiculous. I mean a tux goes with everything. I wouldn''t worry about it. Similarly, if you have white tableclothes, your ivory dress will not look dirty next to them either.

What does this lady want you to do? Do they offer ivory shirts for the guys? I would think that an ivory tuxedo shirt would look dirty actually, tux shirts are supposed to be bright white. Is she just trying to upsell you?

I say forget about it, a wedding dress and a tux always go together!!

Hi Fighton,

We''re in the process of choosing vests and ties to go with the tuxes my FI has picked out. My dress is ivory lace with champagne colored sashes. We were told the same thing as you were, so we decided that no matter what color vests we choose, we''re going with an ivory colored shirt for my FI.

We ran into the same situation. The salesgirl was kind enough to show us pictures. And well, an ivory gown on the bride next to the groom with a white shirt DID look "off"
Honestly, ivory/cream is just a different shade of white. I doubt any of your guests looking at the Groom/GM will say "oh... they''re wearing cream shirts. That''s not classic" Your dress won''t look dirty.... but in pictures it will look off standing next to your husband.
I brought up the same thing about the tableclothes and well, you really won''t get many pictures of you against the tableclothes. You''re not supposed to "go" with them anyway. But you are supposed to "go" with the groom!
