Hello All,

I’m interested in the Maggie Sottero ‘Paris Royale Silk’ which is a two piece gown (see link below for pic).

Are there any pros or cons for two piece wedding gowns? Will it be noticeable?

Thank you in advance.

Hi CTG!

Beautiful gown! I personally like the two-piece gowns as I feel they are easier to get into and to wear, easier to alter each separate piece, etc... Having a small frame, I found a lot of the dresses to overwhelm me with their weight, and I really liked that I didn't feel like the whole dress was being dragged down when I tried on the two-pieces.

I don't know this for a fact, but I have also heard that if your top and bottom are two completely different sizes, a two-piece dress can be ordered in two separate sizes so that you have a good chance of getting a better fit.

Hope that helps you a little bit, and maybe some 2-piece dress brides will chime in and help you out.

ETA: I forgot to say that my friend had a 2-piece Oleg Cassini gown, and each piece fit her like a glove, which if it hadn't been in 2 pieces, might not have. It was stunningly beautiful on her, and she has a bit of an odd shape! She loved it!

I think it might be noticable in real life, it is hard to tell. I think for a strapless two pieces is good because atleast for me, there is this fear I will step on the front of my dress and flash my family, which a two piece avoids. It would also be a great option if your top and bottom are very different sizes. Otherwise I don''t think there is much of a difference.
