My new FI is spending his first Christmas here in the States, so I''m trying to figure out some very American things to do that he hasn''t done. I''m also hoping for some snow! He''s from the Southern Hemisphere, so usually has barbeques for Christmas!

So far I''ve thought of:

Gingerbread houses
"It''s a Wonderful Life"
Egg nog (he''s never had it)
Hot apple cider
Driving around looking at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas carols
Ice skating (maybe)

Any other suggestions?

Christmas caroling?

mistletoe kissing

Snowball fight and snow angels if it snows!

Oh, and "A Christmas Story" and my personal favourite "Mickey''s Christmas Carol."

Thanks guys! How could I have forgotten about Mistletoe!?!

I need more information! As hostess to Israelis, I have introduced people to Christmas in the United States before. I need to know whether he is from a country with Anglo-Saxon traditions (e.g. Australia or New Zealand) or from a Latin American, African, or Asian culture.

There are things (like candy canes and Christmas carols) that South Americans (and, in my experience, Italians) are not familiar with. I would assume, however, that Australians and New Zealanders would not find those things new and different!
