Hi,
I bought this 1.5 carats vvs unheated Thai ruby a long while ago. It's certified by Asia Gemological Research Laboratory in Bangkok, the certificate says the color is red but IRL it looks purplish, orangish, and dark garnety like in different lighting and angles.
I wonder how much it is worth today because when I bought it on ebay it was a cheapo :roll.
Thanks in advance.

I can't give you a price, but you may find comparable gems here:

They are all unheated and with lab report. Some look similar to yours. But remember that these are retail-prices. You cannot expect to sell at these rates.

Thank you for your feedback.
Actually I didn't expect such a high price for my ruby because of its brownish tinge when viewed from a certain angle and most importantly it's not pigeon blood Mogok ruby.
An appraisal of about USD 900 would already make me quite happy.

I have not heard of the lab, hence don't know the equipment they use for testing, and therefore am not even sure how accurate their opinion is regarding that is is truly unheated. As for Wildfish, I find their inventory generally overpriced for the quality.

Oh, I thought it was AIGS. Well, however, if it is really unheated and ruby, and it seems not dirty, it does have its value, not the high-end retail value at WildFish but 900 would seem a snatch.

chrono - thanks for pointing out one important thing, that is the lab. I do start wondering now how many gem labs are there in Bangkok and the area?! How much is a certificate from an unknown gem lab worth? I also have a certificate issued by IGI in Antwerp for another colored stone, there is not much information in it. I mean IGI should disclose some detailed info about the treatment at least .
I think Wildfish only sells ethically mined stones, that's why the prices are high.
normanintheskywithsapphires - could it be just a red tourmaline (rubellite)? ruby vs rubellite, don't they look almost the same to laymen like me?

Yes, but nobody can from a photo like that, least me, I think IGI in Europe is good enough. Most EU-sellers have their reports done there.
