The jeweler that lost my ring in early December came through for me and had a gorgeous replacement made. Luckily I had "incredible" pictures and specific details for the ring that went missing. I have to say that they really did do a fantastic job of recreating my ring, and honestly I''m in love with it. The diamonds are crystal clear and sparkle like mad, much more so than my original ring did. I didn''t have details on the diamonds so I let them choose those. I''ve louped them with a x35 loupe and they''re very clean and very clear in color. I''m not about to ask the specs now, I''ll go have it appraised instead.
In the end they were pretty apologectic and stepped up to do the right thing. I''m still disappointed that my ring is gone and a bit hopeful that in the future they might find it tucked behind something. It really was a small insignificant thing compared to what they keep on hand so the replacement is a thing of beauty that I will wear proudly eventhough my heart aches for the other one.
Okay so I''m impressed enough with this ring to actually call them and let them know that now I need to retire the other older eternity band (1920''s, single cut diamonds) so that I''ll have matching modern bands flanking my e-ring. They let me know that to purchase a 2nd one will cost $7500, but since I was so "nice" about the whole situation I can have it for $6500???????????? Do you think that they might be trying to make up the cost of the replacement ring?
Here''s picture of the new ring, I have it on next to my Vacation ring (Tungsten) for diving. Unfortunately the eternity ring will be staying in the safe at home.
Details: size 6.25
Platinum 6g, 3mm high x 2.9mm w
1.15 cts
