Since my last LIW post went over so well...

I had a talk with FFI and I was paranoid about the engagement ring idea. He told me he is still planning on doing it "soon".....well I finally dragged a timeline out of him and he said 6-8 months....I can live with that!!!! So I asked if we could start trying on rings...he said yes!! So last night we went to a couple B&M stores and then tried on a couple of rings....

Everything he liked I didn''t and visa versa....i have never been so deflated in my life.

So we are going to meet with a designer and talk about what we both like and dislike.

But at least there is progress!!!!!

6-8 months?! Alexis, that is GREAT news!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Do you have any photos of the styles you like and what he likes? Maybe some PSers know of existing setting that meld both together to help you guys find your ring faster?

Awesome news! And I''m with Gwen, start posting pics!

That''s brilliant news Alexis! I know exactly how you feel about the ring thing-D and I have such different taste. The Lucida was the only ring that we both adored! Delighted to hear about the timeline.

I love Tacori settings but that is not in our budget. I want a 1 -1.5 carat stone and I would like to stay w/i the SI1 range. I love detail on the setting and possibly the diamonds on the shank..he likes simple and modern....go figure....

I have been looking at RB and Princess but I would not mind a cushion...I am a WG person....here is the promise ring I have right now for ideas....our budget is about 10k-12k....maybe give or take a little...

I would recommend a cushion based on my own personal bias toward them...

but also because they are less expensive in general. You just have to have the patience to wait until the right one comes along. For me, it was 2 months.

Do you want something like your promise ring? The opposite? Are you going to wear it as a RHR after?

Great news! BTW your promise ring is very pretty! 6-8 months will fly by in no time (if you keep busy) Have you talked about how long your engagement will be? I tend to keep my sanity by looking at wedding stuff since I know we''ll have a really short engagement.

Keep us posted with pics!

Well the length of engagement will be about a year and a half. My family lives in the midwest and I now live on the east coast, plus they by no means can afford to fork over any $$ right now since my brother god married last year and finances are tight. We will be footing the bill all on our own, so it will be a longer engagement, but ENGAGED

none the less.

I am in the MD/DC/VA area so I might sucker FFI into going to ERD but thats a treck...so who knows..

The promise ring will be a RHR after I get the new ring....

congrats! i love tacori too and was surprised that quite a few of designs were in our price range (2000 max) however we do have a diamond from the family so that does help a bit.

I am sure you will find a ring you love!

Hell, if you''re going with Mark, you don''t even need to trek. I''d give him money and tell him to give me a diamond!

I researched the crap out of em (cushions) and found one, had WF get it and look at it, they said it was good so we bought it! Couldn''t BE any easier.

Hey Alexis!
I am so glad! Six-nine months sounds like a fantastic, workable timeline... it gives you plenty of time to work out what you like in rings, and what you think you can live with day to day.
I guess you''ve already been doing a lot of the footwork, but it''s amazing how hard the decision actually is! It would be nice to be able to ''live with'' a theoretical ring in mind for a few weeks / months to ''feel out'' the idea.

I really wanted a blingy pave-set band with a solitaire cushion...hmmm, I went through so many choices, but I really have settled on a plain gold solitaire RB!!
You really sound a super-fabulous person, and I''m so glad your man has got the sense to factor in your dreams for your own life, and look after you properly! Congratulations!!!

I personally will be looking forward to seeing your ring when it''s finally pressed into your eager hands!!
ps did he sell his ''big idea''?
