hi girls,

i was going to post this on theknot but now i''m scared. haha. but anyway i figured you guys would be a great resource. does anyone have any pictures i can use as inspiration for an updo? i know i want something pretty standard, traditional, all hair up.. but i don''t want it on top of my head. and i don''t want a low chignon either-- to me that just looks like a bun and i always have a bun in my hair. i think i want a french twist with curls on top, but my problem is that my fiance is pretty short (less than 1" taller than me) and even though i''m wearing flats, i don''t want any extra height added on top of my head. i haven''t decided yet whether or not i''m wearing a small tiara, but i do have a drop veil that i''ll wear draped over my head and just pinned to th eback of the crown of my head. (no gathering)

thanks in advance!!
tina

This is my current favorite updo, found on the knot I think. It's sleek, elegant, but modern too. Might be too bun-like for you though...

i guess i am looking for something between the second to last and last one. see the bride with the veil? that's my problem, i want it to look different from that but i don't think there's any way to do that unless i put it in a low chignon. i want my veil to look like when grace got married to leo in will and grace. does anyone remember that? i think i can find pictures....

hurray, they worked. i alreayd have the veil (simple drop veil with cut edge, fingertip length because i didn't want it to be so long) but now the hairstyle is a dilemma. i want more of a polished look (my hair is superstraight and superlong.. think of those asian girls you see with the unnaturally shiny, unnecessarily long manes... that's me) and i want all my hair to be up.

any ideas?

I know this is pretty close to the chigon you are trying to avoid, but this was my 5 minute attempt at trying to get my hair to do what i would like for the wedding. I too am about an inch taller than FI (and wearing flats!), so i didnt want to add any height. Its a little higher than i would wear a normal bun, and i would like there to be a little more order to the curls (like what qtiekiki posted). I have really thin hair, so all the "curls" are really one of those hair ties with fake hair on it! You can kinda see my poor little itty-bitty bun in the middle.

Ive also done my hair in a french twist with curls on the top before. I made sure they started the twist low so that the curls wouldnt add height. I wish i had a pic, but i dont, sorry.

How about this? It''s my insipiration for my up do on the big day. The updo they did for my pre-wedding photos were nice also, but was a lil too high on top of my head.
