It''s been 3 years and I''m feeling the need to upgrade. Right now I have a princess cut (.92) and with the setting it totals 1.4 carats. I''m keeping the setting as it is platinum and the style is timeless. This is my dilemma. Initially I was thinking an upgrade of around 1.75 for the center stone but then I changed my mind to 2 carats but then I was thinking, even a 1.50 would be a big jump and it''d be more affordable. Help! I can''t decide. I''m thinking I''ll regret not getting the 2 carats but spending less on this will mean we can spend more on other things. Because even I know this isn''t a necessity, but a want. DH wants me happy and he''s already agreed to 2 carats but maybe I''m being a bit selfish? Or maybe I''m thinking of going not that big but more like 1.50 cause I want it sooner than later? What would YOU do?

Since princess cuts are a little smaller than rounds, I''d probably wait and get the 2 ct. If you do that, you might be able to keep it and not upgrade again. Of course, the ideal solution is to try and find a stone just under 2 cts. since you''d get a stone almost as big but without the 2 ct. price jump.

Ugh, I know what you''re saying. But I''m thinking I could get a 1.50 in a few months and then an eternity band to go with it later? Right now I have a titanium wedding band and I love it for it''s durability but I can''t wear it with my e-ring. I''ve been thinking about this for over a year now and it literally gives me stomach aches. A difference between 4500-8000 (1.50-2.00) is huge.

I upgraded from a 1.53 RB to a 2.36 (RB) and wish I could have gone bigger! I still aspire to a 3.5''ish or so, but so far my darn budget just isn''t cooperating!

SO, here''s my 2 cents: I would go as big as you can, within the parameters of your budget (OK, maaaaaaybe stretch it a liiiiiiitle bit

, but you do still want to be able to eat and live indoors, right?!)

Then, if that''s still not big enough, upgrade again someday!
