Upgrading from .25 diamond to 1.80 Verragio shared prong

For our 10 year anniversary my husband brought up the idea to upgrade my e-ring. I had a simple ring and never babied it. I cleaned and cooked with my original ring. We just placed an order for a round 1.80 I VS2 with medium blue fluorescence, triple Ex including table and depth. While Verragio rings come with a lifetime warranty, I am now coming to terms with the idea of the extra care I’d need to place into the ring. Verragio says their rings are durable enough for every day wear. Admittedly, I’d be a bit disappointed if I felt like I had to be super self-conscious about not bumping it and feeling like I couldn’t really enjoy the ring. Obviously, I intend to get insurance on the center stone. I read it’s best to get choose your dream setting and overtime you will adapt to the ring. Similar to a car, some cars require more care but based on the individual, it’s worth it. Could anyone share their experiences with adjusting to fine jewelry care or their Verragio experiences? The ring I selected has a hidden halo (a bit concerned about knocking those stones) and shared prong shank... but it’s so lovely. Hello there! My original engagement ring was Verragio and I wouldn’t have replaced it if it hadn’t been stolen in a burglary. Anyway, it was an ornate twist shank double halo from the Parisian collection. I was very rough with my hands, I even worked in the paint department of a hardware store while wearing that ring loading and unloading 5 gallon paint buckets from pallets and it took the abuse really well for the 3 years I had it. I do miss her terribly so.Congratulations on the upgrade!

That is good to know. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Verragio. There is no real Verragio forum or review page.

The ring came in this week. It’s more beautiful than I imagined. Now we are discussing letting it stand by itself without a wedding band. The matching band is beautiful but I feel it reduces the scalloped side details and blocks the crown emblem with the peak a boo diamond. The pictures with the matching band is the sample ring with a CZ. What’s are your thoughts? Matching band or solo ring?7DEADFE1-B6CD-4601-8603-69418EF02BE3.jpeg23D479FE-DFD2-475E-BDC9-F936E976B667.jpeg

Stunning!! Is it comfy? What are your first initial impressions in comparison to your previous concerns?

Part of me thinks, I should say enjoy the ring and not say anything (it is a beautiful ring and a HUGE upgrade). But if you wanted feedback, multiple design choices of that ring do make it a ring that is more delicate and likely to have something "happen" to it, than a stone in a plain solitaire setting: the tiny diamonds around the main stone. The tiny diamonds on the supports on the "head". The diamonds along the shank of the ring. All of those stones are exposed to anything you do with your hand including any accidental banging as well as normal wear and tear. Do not be surprised if you end up losing some of those stones. But that is the price you might have to pay to enjoy the ring. I'm not trying to be critical, just giving you a heads up. And because of all those elements I also agree it works better as a solo ring.

That is a stunning ring. Wear it in good health. I would say get the band too, they look lovely together. The bonus is you can always wear the wedding band on its own on days you don’t want to wear the ER.

You are so right! I thought about all of those features. It will be high maintenance and that was a huge concern and still is. I don’t like the idea of babysitting a ring. However, it was the only ring that made me weak in my knees, literally! It’s also a verragio. They made high quality rings and known for their craftsmanship. Still, I expect there it’s prone to easy damage. If it weren’t for the lifetime warranty on the setting and the quality the brand is known for, I’d pass on it. After I saw the completed ring I compared it to a few of choices. I noticed that the shared prong style is my favorite. It highlights the side diamonds more than any other setting. And the hidden halo does concern me but after comparing it to others... it makes the ring look even more stunning. I got the setting on sale for $2800 vs $3600 and the other settings I compared it to only offered $400-800 savings. For that savings I feel the extra custom looking details really helps the overall look. If I placed that money in the center stone it would not offer that much a visible size difference.

These were some of the other options that I am sure are maybe more practical but simply did not excite me as much as the only I selected. The Verragio is a bit special for its crown logo on the side. My husband has a side business with the exact same crown logo... which is an odd coincidence. But I am open to your thoughts on there other top contenders. Thanks for your feedback. I am inclined to get the band but since it’s a shared prong which can be delicate I am thinking I should see how the ER wears first. If it doesn’t give me as many possible challenges then maybe we will spring for the extra band. Here’s what the sample ring looked like without the band from a distance. We pick up the actual ring today. 2413E6F2-62B7-49D1-950A-D22B30FFA031.jpeg

The sample ring is a 1.20 CZ

Thanks! I replied to your comment in the thread below.

Definitely get the band too. It’s looks stunning!

Thanks for your feedback. I am thinking about it but want to see also how the ER holds up over time

Stunning!! Is it comfy? What are your first initial impressions in comparison to your previous concerns?

Thanks! It is comfy. My initial impression was... this is very beautiful. But I immediately asked the sales consultant to allow me to compare the ring to the other contenders. I could tell he was baffled by my request, that I was still deciding at the stage. However, I really needed to see it next to the others and analyze why I fell in love with it. Yes, it is delicate but I will just have to baby it. Thankfully, I still have my first engagement ring and still plan to wear it. So, I feel I will have to choose to love the ring I fell in love with despite it being delicate vs. select a more practical ring that doesn’t excite me as much.

I am having a ring made that I will also have to baby and I’ve been warned that it is not an every day ring. I don’t care. I’m going to wear it every day! We only have so many days on this planet. Wear it, enjoy it- insure it. You’ll never love it until you give yourself permission to!

It looks so nice on you! It is hard to find a perfect setting. If I were you, I would go get the band (Yeap, I’m an enabler)

Very pretty! I think it looks best with the band, too!

Unusually for me i actually like both looks
With and without
I usually think a diamond wedding band fights with an ER for the lime light but i actually really love it here

Its a great upgrade btw

Really haopy your keeping you'r old set and still plan to wear it

I wonder how you’d feel about a plain band? The setting is lovely and it looks great on your hand! I kind of prefer it without the matching band plus all the small diamonds along the side of the setting may scratch or ruin your band (or get damaged by it in turn) so you may need a spacer. A plain band could work - maybe a plain band in YG instead of WG even. Congratulations and good luck with whatever you decide!

It's beautiful! Congratulations! And another vote here for the matching band, as they look fantastic!

Beautiful! And Diamonds Direct! Love that place!

Hey thanks! I thought about a plain band but my husband feels the band competes with the ER. Here’s a picture with a plain band on one side and matching band on the other. It’s with the sample ring
