upgrading stone without replacing setting

Hi all! I have a question that I was hoping I could get some advice on. My engagement ring has a 5mm moissanite center stone in a basket setting with two small diamonds on each side. My fiancé and I are in a much better financial position now than when he bought the ring nearly two years ago, so we're thinking of upgrading the center stone to a diamond. I would really love a vintage old mine cut or old European cut stone, and I do really like the setting so I would like to keep the same setting but just switch out the center stone. My question is, will I have to find a diamond with the same dimensions as the current stone, or can the basket setting accommodate a slightly larger stone, say +0.2-0.5mm in diameter? I'm going to a jeweler next weekend, but I'm impatient and wanted to see if anyone has any knowledge to share. Thanks! :)

It depends on the setting, but most settings dont have much wiggle room in terms of stone size (unless it's a solitaire in which case sometimes the head can be replaced). So maybe .2mm? But you would need to ask a jeweler. Can we see a pic in the meantime?

Thanks for responding! I figured the size can't be changed that much, but I'm hoping there's some flexibility so I don't have to find a new stone with the exact same dimensions. Here are some photos. Thanks again!
