like a lot of you on here im still trying to decide with my gf where we want to go for our honeymoon. we thought the answer was a sandals resort in jamaica but after all the negative things we heard about them from these forums we want to explore other options.

we are now using tripadvisor to read reviews and narrow down our choices. this website seems useful but one of the most important things we want from it which are pictures are hard to search through!

they have pictures from travelers for diff resorts but they a lot of the photos are random and none are of the room or actual resort. obviously these are pretty important because we''d want to make sure the pictures from real travelers of the rooms match up with the ones these resorts have posted on their websites and expedia, hotels.com etc...

anyone else run into this issue.. im gettin frustrated looking at tons and tons of pictures basically their vacation photo album and not finding anything useful to use as a baseline to compare against...

sorry had to vent!! :)

I use tripadvisor all the time but to be honest, I never really look at the pictures for some reason. I just read the millions of reviews and can normally tell the people who will give out regardless about somewhere and the genuine people who have a couple of issues. Sorry to hear that the pictures aren''t great though. I''ll have to check them out next time.

I can''t give you any advice about Jamaica or any other resort-type destination, as I haven''t been. I''ve only been to Bermuda, which is gorgeous, by the way. I just wanted to ask if you''ve read through the forums on Trip Advisor? I''m assuming you have but you only mentioned reading reviews. If you check out the forums, you''ll probably get great avice on a bunch of locations.

I know a few people here have gone to St. Lucia (JCrow and Sumbride, I believe). Also, Turks and Caicos is supposed to be a great spot (I think MoreMoreMore went there on her honeymoon, and I know that Jaders lived down there for a couple years).

Also, if tropical is what you''re looking for, have you considered Hawaii? I''ve never been but several other PSers have (Sundial [I think] and Skippy come to mind). I know Mara got married there and Harleigh is planning on doing so this summer.

gf and i are just trying to somewhere romantic somewhat secluded and in a tropical area like the carribbean. shes already gone to hawaii a few times so i def dont want to go there. i want our honeymoon to be at a place that neither of us has traveled to in the past. ill def look into the destinations you posted and check out the forums on tripadvisor.

previously we had our mindset on sandals since it looks nice in the commercials and pictures online on their website and the price was affordable. but after i posted on here a lot of ppl steered as away and said that we should check out the pics/reviews on tripadvisor and compare the pics on tripadvisor to the pics sandals has on their website. i wanted to do this but the pics on tripadvisor arent that useful and as stated above they are hard to sort thru some are random pics from travelers.

I''ve found the pictures on tripadvisor really helpful. I didn''t think it seemed so difficult to sort through the pictures. I''ve found facility and guest rooms pictures from the visitors and then I compare them to the resort website and see how similar they are. I guess it just takes a little time to find the right place for you. Also, you can email the guests who''ve left reviews and ask them more specific questions about their stay.

Hello!

My FI and I were looking into this resort to get married and stay for a honeymoon. We did our research on TripAdvisor and contacted the resort itself and it was very impressive. We decided against it because of it being too secluded and that really did not fit our personality.

However, this could be the perfect resort for you. The photos are so beautiful and the rooms look just lovely. Good Luck!!

I''m also using tripadvisor to research honeymoon locales, and i definitely find the pictures helpful! I''m really concerned w/ the room we stay in and the overall look of the place - I''m big on ambiance, it''s just my thing! - and traveler''s photos are a great way to confirm that the resorts'' website photos are accurate. I''m sure you know where the traveler pics are, but just to confirm: when you''re reading a review, scroll to the top and click on "traveler photos" - you can scan the thumbnails on the right side of the pop-up... pretty easy to spot the room pics etc. Also, it might depend on what hotel/resort you''re checking out. The ones I''m looking at (ex. royal cancun or royal playa del carmen) have awesome hotel pics... other, perhaps smaller, resorts might not. Of course you have to weed out the annoying "us with the 2 hott entertainers!!" pics

). Like courtneyllub said, it might just take some time to find the right one! And I second her advice to email review posters if you have specific questions.

good luck with your search!
