I purchased a beautiful non heat treated, magnificent blue sapphire, and had that made into a ring in 2004.
I had it appraised in 2004, and insured. Its now almost 3 1/2 years later...Should I have it re-appraised?

Thanks!

I seen to remember reading that every 3-4 years was a good time for a reappraisal. I plan to send my wifes ring early next year along with something new to Richard Sherwood again.

I did get inflation coverage for the insurance. I also insured at Richards "high end retail store value" instead of the "internet value". So there is a little fat in the appraised value.

However, sapphires, particularly fine untreated ones continue to climb in price. Also good to have the ring inspected for wear or damage I think. Also I seem to remember the reappraisal cost is less than the cost of the first appraisal.
