veil update

Whew, so I just went to see my friend''s boyfriend who owns the cloth shop, and bought (count ''em)....3 meters of 100 % silk tulle for about 80 USD...

Then we went to see the "stylist"/tailor colleague they refer to--she had a very Vera-Wang-of-Morocco type office, she showed us her wedding dress that she made from 12 years ago, etc....


Then we got down to business. She''s going to get my tulle hand embroidered and lightly beaded in this pattern:

With this style, except about fingertip length (slightly longer, about mid-thigh length):

..and how much did I get charged for that much hand embroidery on silk, you ask? Ah, the joys of cheap labor...the embroidery+sewing, etc will cost about 100 USD.

Yay! I''m excited, since there''s no way in h** I could have afforded this back home. Next up: buying one of their headpieces (sooo retro and perfect for our 50''s look, they actually have the old silk-orange-flower ones around since their Western wedding styles are really outdated, lucky for me).

Followed by some wedding shoes, and fabric to make the huppah and aisle runners, etc. Maybe table runners, who knows.

Basically, anything eminently portable I''m getting here. I''m sort of considering getting the fabric for the girl''s dresses here and then getting them to give me their measurements for a seamstress..not sure though. Could be dicey with them not physically here.

WOW, that''s amazing!!! My veil is silk tulle as well, and boy are you getting a deal!!! (I didn''t look at the price tag before I fell in love with it... it was kind of a shock!) That will be an heirloom for you!

thanks! I''m pretty excited, even though it''ll be awhile (she''s traveling to Hong Kong and Dubai for work for almost 2 months, so...)
