I''m leaning towards the Vegas idea. The Venetian is my top pick right now. Has anyone been married there? Do you have pics? Was it easy and painless? TIA!

We''re not getting married in Vegas and have not been to a wedding there or in the Venetian, but having just come back from a week-long stay in the Venetian, I would say I think it''s where I would get married. Their chapel is just elegant and the floor is opulent. The hotel comes quite close to being over the top (i.e., kitchy baroque), but it works.

Prior to the trip, I had never been to Vegas as I am not a Vegas person. Don''t get me wrong, I''ve been to casinos in Europe and the Caribbean and some in the U.S. FI and I travel stay at posh resorts 3 or 4 times a year, mostly for business, therefore, we kind of have high standards. FI was in Vegas for business, and friends recommended we stay at the Venetian. It did not dissapoint. The staff were wonderful. Somehow we ran into the chapel, and they were nice enough to open it for us. You may want to try to get some advise on theknot.com local boards. From there, I learned where to shop for my wedding shoes. I didn''t even know there was a Manolo shop in Vegas (should have known). It saved my having to travel to NYC!

Good luck!

Hi hoofbeats

My brother and SIL just got married at the Venetian this past December. They had the ceremony on the bridge over the canal and a small reception in a suite. It was definitely easy and painless. The minister was great and the wedding planner was very professional. My SIL''s bouquet was lovely and just how she ordered it.

The food at the reception was perfect - they had a small buffet. Everyone was very professional and I really can''t think of anything bad to say about it. I can try to find some pics for you but I''m at work so maybe this weekend.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I''ll definitely try to answer or ask my SIL.

I would strongly recommend going and looking at wedding venues in person before you make any solid plans. Photos can be photoshopped/altered, not to mention make things look differently on a computer than they do in person and things change and aren't updated on websites. For a great example of this, go check out MGM Grand's intro to their wedding chapel/services video. I think it was shot in the 90s. Early 90s. Not joking.

We're getting married in Mandalay Bay, and while I loved the pictures, the actual room felt very different (luckily in a good way) than it felt in the pictures. The upholstery is actually a mushroom-y shade and in the pictures it looked very white.

Also I don't know if this is important to you, but location was big for us. We didn't want to get married and immediately walk out onto the casino floor, like you do with some chapels. For us the biggest selling point for MB was the fact that it has windows to the outside behind the ceremony area. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that this is the only chapel that has that on the strip. Huge selling point for us.

Also, it should be noted that we did not visit The Venetian's chapel, but I could tell from the pictures that it wasn't really our style anyway.

If you have any questions in general about the chapels or Vegas, feel free to ask. I've done a LOT of research.
