Good news: Well after weeks my fi and I finally decided on where to have the wedding! It''s Kona Village on the Big Island. We love the idea of tech-free little huts nestled among gardens. It has a great beach both for the wedding and a pre-marital swim. Kona Village is also the only all-inclusive resort so I don''t have to worry about his family having problems paying for food. But the main reason we picked this resort is because the wedding will (theoretically) be stress-free. They have the perfect package which has everything we want, the food for our 10 people dinner is already included in the price of the accomendations, and (my favorite) the wedding license person for that area is actually located at Kona Village. The super nice wedding coordinator assured me that all we would have to do is pick the color of the flowers and the flavor of the cake.

Bad news: I spent several days trying to get a hold of the wedding coordinator to make sure our date is still available with no luck. Finally I reach a secretary yesterday who tells me that Jamie is no longer with Kona Village. It sounded like she left very abruptly.

The woman who''s the wedding coordinator now is their old coordinator they had before Jamie and who had taught Jamie so I shouldn''t worry my wedding will be beautiful and the lady will call me back very soon. Now I''m making an effort not to be anxious or paranoid about life anymore, but... um... should I be worried?

I don''t think you need to worry. If Kona Village re-hired the new coordinator, that says something....atleast to me. If she wasn''t good, they wouldn''t rehire her.

I wouldn''t worry at all. The fact that they re-hired her speaks well of her abilities & experience. If you are really concerned, I would ask for a reference of her work or maybe have her e-mail you a portfolio of weddings she has personally handled at that resort. Other than that I would just breathe, relax, and thoroughly enjoy your drop dead gorgeous venue. Congrats!

I wouldn''t worry either. I am sure it will be a beautiful, perfect day.

I actually just got married last week on the Big Island (Hilton Waikoloa). We went to the Kona Village Resort to get our marriage license. I''m sure you will just love it! I wouldn''t worry about the wedding coordinator - I''m sure things will be just fine. Just to give you a heads up - I found that Hawaiian Vendors (except my photographer) take their time in getting back to you about small details. I don''t know if this will be the case for you, but if so, try not to stress about it.

We LOVED our wedding on the Big Island. Our photographer was Bob Brown from www.eyeexpression.com
He was fabulous to work with - I haven''t seen the pics yet but I know they will be terrific. Since your family is going to be with you - you might consider a "family photo album" package he has on his site. He spends all day with your family (not the wedding day) from breakfast to sunset - going wherever you go, taking candids all day long, ending in a formal session at sunset. All for $1200. It is a new package he is doing - and I totally would have done it if I knew about it in advance. For our wedding, though, we had him for 3 hours (he actually gave us a little extra) for $1600 (includes a story book photo album, all pics on CD and website slide show).

it doesn''t sound to me like you should be worried, but i do understand your anxiety,

when it comes to answers regarding our planning- we want them NOW!!!
just remain persistent re. calling her, if you don''t hear back after a reasonable period, then maybe get concerned,
but it sounds like you will be ok.

does she have email? i''ve found many folks respond to that better than voice but depends...

good luck, the place sounds amazing!

I don''t think I''d worry too much, people leave jobs for all sorts of reasons. I doubt it willl affect your wedding very much.
