Voce's Gemstone Ramblings...

Yay, I got my bee cluster ring! Have trouble getting my phone to capture the right color for the yellow kornerupine, but I find the ring quite cute. :mrgreen2:IMG_20191101_112723961.jpgIMG_20191101_112744227.jpg

What a sweet ring, voce, the greens and purples are right up my alley!

That bee ring is adorable! Enjoy it with a smile!

I'm thrilled with my new ring from CRD. Purple sapphire, blue zircon and green demantoid! My camera isn't able to pick up how it glitters, but oh my goodness does this ring glitter!

Your new ring has a beautiful color combination :kiss2: I love the engraving on the metal!

Wow, another beautiful piece. You’re really amassing a gorgeous collection!!

Prettttttyyyyyy!

I’m considering buying some demantoids. What do you think of the color?

Thank you, I love the engraving too. I'm glad this color combo worked out well!

Thank you, T L ! That means a lot to me. =)2

I love the color of my demantoids. However, they are not currently available in Yvonne's Etsy shop now. She described the ones I bought out (7 in total) back in Jan/Feb 2019 as top color in Russian demantoids. The ones featured in her shop now look more yellow than the ones I bought (which are a saturated bright and minty green). I think you could have her reach out to her Russian source or you could wait for Tucson 2020, when I'm sure she will replenish her inventory.

Look at you and your fast growing collection!
I love you new ring. The engraving / milgrain details are beautiful and the color combo is perfection!

Very lovely! Ive also a weakness for purple sapphires witch have that calm soft appearance in daylight and then become a beast in incandescent light!!

Can I ask what kind of gem that lavender is? Looks very delicious:lickout::love:

It's another sapphire, unheated, Ceylon origin IIRC. I am sending it to Yvonne for setting soon.

Oh, thank you! Coming from someone who has an excellent collection himself, it means a lot to me and makes me blush.:oops2:

That new Lily ring is gorgeous, OMG :-) The colors are fab and I like how the details of the engraving stand out in the large version of this style.

Super cute! Are you wearing this regularly?

I love the purple with the green demantoids! Congrats on another lovely ring.

@leslie1956 thank you for the compliment. I wasn't expecting the engraving, and the large Lily gives a lot of finger coverage.

@Stone Hunter thank you. At this point I have too many rings to wear any one regularly except for my ruby engagement ring. I keep most of my rings in a safe location and pick out a different selection to wear every week during the weekend before. I tend to wear the bee ring when I wear yellow gold, and I'm trying to set more gems in yellow gold and rose gold these days to balance my collection because most of the rings I have are sterling silver.

Haha, although I did talk about setting things in other metals, when it comes to the gems I love most in my collection, I do set them in platinum, like this favourite sapphire of mine. I'm so glad I did not go with MRose for this project, but Enhoerning.

Tagging @elle_71125 because I got the idea of haloing the sidestones from her 3-paraiba ring, although in my ring, the side stones are kite diamonds and not pear shapes. The cat and fish design for the gallery isn't the most elegant, but is a personal touch symbolising me and my DF.

It’s beautiful! The blue sapphire just pops and I think the kite sides are a nice touch. Your don’t see those too often.
I like the catfish design. It makes the ring true to you...and therefore perfect.

Your new sapphire ring is gorgeous  . Adding your personal touch to the design makes it even more special. Congrats on adding this beautiful piece to your collection!

How pretty, voce, I didn't know that you had a blue sapphire ring in the works! Beautiful but wearable design, which I really like :)

Yes, well, Leslie, I am really down the rabbit hole this year, setting gems left and right. I'm also setting a few with Daniel M sand Yvonne, which I keep hush-hush as some are gifts for friends and family, but the ones that are for me, I will share them with you all on PS.

Here is another small but mighty design that is in the queue for this year.

I find that although I admire big honkers on other people, I feel happier being able to do a bunch of small but mighty projects, given the same budget.

Next with Enhoerning is that Jedi spinel! Looking forward to seeing the CAD sometime next week?

GREAT shade of blue! Are there more photos of this stone or ring?

ETA: wait is it the stone from page 5 of this thread? It looks lighter and brighter now.

Yes, this is the stone from page 5, post #140 of this thread. The pictures I posted back then were taken under kitchen fluorescent lighting with a mediocre phone, and I know that Inken takes her studio shots using natural light and white light reflectors, no filtering or digital color tampering.

After I receive the ring, I should take some pictures with my digital camera instead of phone. The color should turn out more true to life that way. It was just finished today, so I'll be receiving it next week.

Amazing how lighting can make such a difference with colored stones. I look forward to your photos!

I do think that in most lighting, my sapphire is somewhat darker, particularly when worn on the finger. Here is a still from Inken's video.

I won't have good pictures of my own until tomorrow at least. Not receiving the ring until tonight after work, and then to take comparative pictures I'll have to wait until daytime tomorrow to take pictures.

Just curious, does Inken take custom project for stones not purchased from her?

Maybe one day she'll get so busy that she doesn't, but currently she does take custom projects for stones not purchased from her. If you purchase stones from her, though, she will be able to make a lower offer for setting cost, as she blends her margins together to give you a better overall deal.

This is going to be outstanding. I cannot wait to see it.

Drats, my eyes were glued to my rings this morning, and I forgot to bring my digital camera. Hence, the really good shots have to wait until even later this week. :oops2:

Here's a couple rings I received over the weekend, set by Daniel M. Turnaround time was less than a week, since we used ready made settings, and I'm happy with these gorgeous rings.

7.1x7.2 mm square cab gem chrysocolla I got from Murphy's Gems off Etsy, in an original Daniel M setting.
