Well, after about 3 months of obsessing about my custom project, my vision has finally come to fruition. I''d like to thank those who imparted their knowledge about the process. Also, a big shout out to Pete Tain and Dan Stair.

It''s refreshing to know that in a time when business seems to be synonymous with quick bucks and bad attitudes, there are responsible and pleasant business people out there willing to listen and educate rather than preach and talk down. Pricescope is a great resource.

I''m trying to post a few pics.

Wowza! I love it!!!

Just gorgeous! What is the center stone?

oh wow, that is an absolutely stunning ring! what''s the center stone btw?

What a beautiful ring! What type of stone is it?

Beautiful- again- what is the centre stone?!?

As some of you probably guessed, the center stone is a spinel. after months searching for an untreated light pink sapphire, I decided on this one. I would have preferred a more vibrant, deeper pink, but my girlfriend loves very, very light, pastel pinks. It's extremely "sparkly", so as far as i know, it looks as though it belongs in that setting. i actually like it a lot. more importantly, I know she will.

ps - Thanks for the kind words!

Gorgeous ring! Good luck with the proposal, but I think she''ll love it!!!

You can also look at it this way: it looks like a pink diamond because it''s a very light pastel pink.

Me too! I was about to be very, very jealous. The setting is amazing!

Now that is one to die for ring! Congrats!

What a gorgeous, gorgeous ring. I do agree, it looks like a pink diamond. I love that setting. Please post handshots too.

That ring is beautiful! I have seen Quest do several of that type halo and they do it so beautifully! Would you mind if i asked what mm that stone is and about how much you paid for the setting? You don''t have to answer but it is close to something I am considering for myself and was looking for a ballpark figure.

I love, love, love hot pink spinel and have never really been a fan of the softer, more delicate pink... until now. And, what a perfect, exquisitely elegant setting. After seeing this delightful ring, I'm encouraged to someday find my own "delicate pink" cushion and have it made as part of a ring as beautiful as yours. Thank you for posting the photos. I'm both impressed and inspired! Best of all, it is good to hear your experience was positive all around. I agree... she will be tickled pink!

Thanks for the compliment. The center is 5.02X5.02 mm (.64 carats). It''s made of platinum and the halo is set with full cut 1 point (1.3mm) diamonds. (I wanted to go down a little more in halo size, but was strongly advised against it).

When we looked at Tiffany Legacies, the one that fit her hand the best was the .3 ct. This one is slightly larger. However, given the size of the ring (i.e. it''s really dainty), the increase in size is negligible.

I don''t feel right telling you how much I ultimately paid (not for my sake, but for the vendor''s), but I will say that the initial, rough quotes I got (from three separate "Pricescope" vendors), were between $2,000 and $3,000. My advice to anyone is to negotiate because like a lot of things, there''s almost always a degree of flexibility in pricing.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks GF. I can''t get over how pretty that ring is! I''m sorry I wasn''t asking for exactly what you paid, just the ballpark figure. What you quoted is about what I thought. I hope I didn''t offend you. She is one lucky girl!

What a gorgeous ring fit for a princess. It is so feminine and romantic!! STUNNING!!! VOILA INDEED!

Pink spinel was a great choice.

No problem. And no offense taken. I just didn''t want to potentially violate any posting rules or influence what Quest or others should be charging for their work. I''m actually flattered you liked it enough to ask.

I''ll take some pics of the ring outside, along with some hand shots when I can.

It''s a very beautiful ring! The stone is such a lovely soft pink.
