Just wanted to thank all the gurus and consumers here on PS! So far we have found our Radiant, in that obsessive search we conducted for it these past two months.

Sad to say, it seems we are notorious out here in the Diamond District (NYC). Our jeweler finally found a perfect stone from Henry Grossbard''s The Radiant Cut, and even though we paid for the "branding" as some would argue against, I have to say that in the case of a fancy shaped stone that is not quite so popular and standardized as the round, we had to.

The generic Radiants are cut with totally different patters, horrible depth and tables, either out of lack of caring for efficiency or to make the stone "look" larger, but we sacrificed the size for a better cut stone, and it sparkles like a mad man!

So thanks to you guys for your help it''s so great to hear opinions and get advice from some truly helpful and knowledgable people!!!

Sadly, I have no bling. The jeweler has the stone, and will have it until he can set it in a temporary setting until I chose the setting. Speaking of which, I finally saw the Vatche x-prong at Michael C. Fina and I am NOT impressed. It looked a little on the cheap side, and definately didn't warrant the price tag. Although it IS lovely, Vatche's x-prong looked scratched and thin. Not impressed...

Also, I am hoping to find a good platinumsmith with exacting standards to create a very simple x-prong type band for a 1.73 radiant cut stone. I am looking into Platinum mixes to get a nice harder white alloy, and make it look smooth and elegant.

It's 1.06 length to width and I am also wondering what's the best way to set this stone in that type of setting... Help.

Have you check our Mark Morrell's web site? He does beautiful work in platinum.

We will, and I am practising my camera skills in honor of the new baby...my precioussssssssssss....

It is a "The Radiant Cut" (Henry Grossbard) cut Radiant, and I don't have the specs on me, which is a surprise, but the file on my search weighed more than my little work bag could handle...so I leave it at home now.

As I said, I am looking for a VERY simple platinum setting, but a unique one. I think I may have found a style I like, but i can't find a decent picture of it...

I have tried using macro before, but I only have a little Canon Digital Elph S200. It's almost 3 years old, but has served me well on vacations, etc. Maybe I can upgrade to a better camera for closer jewelry shots? Any recommendations? Or even a quick fix for my camera now. Actually I was hoping to get a camera with the ability to change the lenses, as mine is just a simple click and shoot...
