LOL!! The fuzzy green monster is the first to go!

Autumn, I lean towards those colors too. I'm just not sure if I should use the neutral beige colors in more than one area or if that would be over done.

Oh, I'm also thinking about painting the wood trim a crisp white. I just think it would look cleaner and new.

I love the idea of painting the trim white. Congratulations on getting the house Zappy!

Yes! crisp and clean!

I'm wondering if a bright white would be *too* white, though - it looks like the refrigerator and the oven-hood are a creamier colour, and the last thing you want is the trim to overly contrast and look bluish against the warm wood... would perhaps go with a wamer white? Just a thought!

Zappy - Congratulations on your new house!! :appl: What year was it built? Any idea what's under the carpet in the living room? I used to peek for hardwood when we were looking at houses. It's amazing how many people put wall-to-wall over hardwood!

Yssie, good call. I didn't think of that...eventually, we want to switch out the appliances and hood to stainless steel though, so that would be an even cleaner look. But I'll have to bring the swatches closer to the current appliances!

The house was built in '95, so I doubt there is wood under the carpet. I'll check though!

I completely agree with the white trim, that would look awesome. I tend to go overboard with the earth tones too, haha but I still really love all those colors. I'd probably use the red in the basement though, with the white trim...that could look very sharp. I'm not sure how much you plan on redoing but a back splash in the kitchen would look really good too :)

Thanks for the pictures! How soon do you plan to move in once you complete?

I would be tempted to skim the ceilings for a smooth plaster finish and that is a before you move in type of job. The kitchen looks to be in great condition - that is such a bonus! And the fireplace looks picture perfect for the holidays.

I think the whole house would look great in shades of beige.

 :appl:

Closing is in late December but we move in the spring.

Woo!! :appl:
