my jeweler quoted me $925 for a 2.5 mm platinum wedding band with a milgrain edge - in size 4. i know platinum prices are high, but that still seems a bit much. anyone have a suggestion where i might be able to find something comparable but cheaper online?

Plain plat band? Or with half or whole diamond eternity? I only ask because DH purchased my 2mm 3/4 eternity band for only $900. $925 for plain band does seem steep. If you have the time, I''d look around and do a little more research.

Way high.

The Facets Collection has a 3mm (I rounded up, they don''t have a 2.5mm listed on the site but can make you one) platinum band with milgrain in a size 4 for $341.

Comfort Fit Platinum Milgrain Band $341

I''ve been thinking about using this site (e-wedding bands.com) to purchase a migrain band in wg (to match DH) for times when I don''t want to wear my diamond... but I don''t know anything about them, except that the prices are very low in comparison to what I''ve seen in our local jeweler''s.

Anyway, here''s a 3mm in plat for $418 (no 2.5mm listed: Link I looked a blue nile, too, and they didn''t have any milgraining in womens'' rings.

N/m on my post...Facets is a much better call!

Side question: Is the gorgeous puppy in your avatar a Golden Doodle?

I''ve heard nothing but good things about eweddingbands.com and I am thinking of buying a band from them myself! I saw a 3mm band for about $320. May as well call them and see if they can do exactly the specs you want. Also how about something from Stuller? I have a gold milgrain band from them and it''s very nice.

all good choices - thanks! it certainly seems i can do this much cheaper online. blue nile and facets both look good, though it doesn''t look like e-weddingbands goes lower than 3mm, and i''d like to match my ering width.

i also was looking for my fiance, who wants something contemporary in white gold, and found a few interesting, reasonable choices on mondera - anyone know anything about them?

Just wanted to throw in another online option. A 2.5mm platinum band with miligrain edges in a size 4 at www.weddingringhotline.com is only $252. I ordered a palladium ring from them (ended up returning it) and they were really great to work with.

I ran across this one today looking at caleb meyer dot com ... it''s a bit more ($500ish) & 2mm ... but an unusual piece (I believe handmade)....

Ohh! I love that one that Deco posted, I haven''t seen many with a milgrain in the middle like that in my own searches. Very pretty!

Ok, this is a 3mm, but it's less than half the price http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/product982.html. I got my wedding band from there and had no problems at all. It shipped very quickly too :)

ETA: woops! Should've read through all the responses before I posted.

I bought FI''s wedding band from eweddingbands.com and they gave fab customer service and the ring is exactly what FI wanted. I recommend them highly.

They also price match. I found a cheaper band on another, less well known site and eweddingbands knocked the extra off their price to match it.

Three thumbs up!
