The combination of cool evening weather for our April 12th wedding in Asheville, NC combined with the fact that I have flabby arms has made me decide I need something but for the life of me I can''t find a shrug or cardigan to wear over my dress!

I thought I wanted a lace bolero, but my dress is a lace maggie (pic attached- which is clearly not me!) and it is lace overkill, so no lace.

I really wanted a cashmere shrug but the only one I could find was at Banana Republic and is Ivory, and I am worried it will clash with my diamond white dress- what do you guys think?

Has anyone else seen a cute cardigan or shrug that they think would go with the dress? The only other thing I saw was a faux fur shrug on ebay, but I keep thinking faux fur is might be a bit over the top Shrug Linky

Anyways, any help you gals can offer would be so appreciated!! Thank you!

Sorry, here is the dress:

ETA: Ahhh it's so small! Anyway, it is Libby from MS.

I love your dress!!!!
Do you have any pictures of you in it?
I think I would do a shrug, but not fur..maybe too wintery of a look for April?
I will look and see if I can find some pics too...

but I just have to say again, I love your dress!

eta: do you want to wear it the whole day, or would you consider a wrap/stole type thing that has a clip on it, so you don't have to hold it, but at the same time a little freer movement?

Thanks Sophie! I wish I had a picture of it, but the salon I ordered it from has a strict "no pictures" rule even though I ordered it! I cant stand that! I was thinking of calling a few other shops to see what their photo policy was so I could get a picture of it for my mom who lives in Florida (even that didn''t melt the cold heart of the lady at the salon here in San Francisco!)

I didnt think the fur would work either, but I liked the shape of the shrug... if only it were in cashmere!

If you find any other options let me know, I am desperate!

If you have purchased it from them, that is really crappy they won''t let you take pictures. Talk about not accomodating your customers!

I am off to surf for some pics :)

I was just on the maggie site, is the dress satin and lace? I can tell the lace part but am unsure if it is maybe also organza?

I love the look of a bolero obviously (since I had one!)...but I''m not sure your dress can get away with the plainess of the cashmere shrug. It cant be that expensive and it''s returnable so why not buy it and take it to try it with your dress and see in person how it looks? The fur could be cute but not in April. I''d almost go with a satin type fabric in a shrug or bolero style. That would pick up on the satin ribbon motif that you have on your gown. And you''d probably be able to match it better. Have you asked if MS makes a little jacket thing for your dress? Alot of designers make a standard jacket/bolero that is in a basic fabric that goes with a lot of their dress fabrics.

Sophie, the dress is lace over satin. In the photo it is Ivory lace over gold satin, but I decided to go diamond white over diamond white because the combo with the gold matched my pale skin tone so perfectly, I nearly looked naked!

My colors are brown, aqua and green.

Surfgirl that is a great idea to ask MS about them already having one. I agree that perhaps satin would be best. However I did find this in brown but it is lace, although from the photos it doesnt look like sheer lace.

What do you ladies think about this bolero? Is it worth $60?

I also found this one at David's Bridal- you can get it in White, brown or aqua.

Has anyone ever seen this in person? I figure I can always get the sleeves hemmed to be closer to three quarters.

LOVE that bolero! Definitely worth $60 if it's well made, the lace isn't cheap and itchy, it lays well and is flattering (sometimes sleeves like that can look weird/unflattering if not done well). I think it's really pretty! You might want to maybe Photoshop the bolero over the dress to make sure the two styles of lace do not conflict. If it does, the detail in your dress might be complimented by something simpler maybe?

ETA: I was posting when you were. I like the chiffon shrug as well- if the lace bolero competes with the dress, I think the chiffon is a really good option. It's simple, yet not boring. I like that it is sheer- very nice.

I do like the look a lot.

Do you guys think it would look weird if I wore a colored (or brightly colored) jacket with a white dress? Has anyone ever done this?

Honestly? I think a colored bolero will look more formal wear, and white on white will look more bridal...but that''s just my personal taste.

I love color... but I think a colored shrug might look like you just ''threw it on'' and even though you could match it to your colors, I think it might take away from the flowers and dress.

I was afraid of color looking less bridal!

Anyone know if David''s will accept returns on boleros? I guess I should just call!

I would love something that looks vintage-y, that''s why I was wondering if anyone had done a cardigan before. Thank goodness there is plenty of time to find something perfect!

If I come across anything else, I''ll let you all know. It might come in handy for someone with the same dilemma!
