Hi everyone!
I just wanted to vent about a recent experience that I had. I went to visit my friend in NYC this past weekend, and decided to make an appointment at the Nicole Miller shop in Soho. I've been to the NM locally (in VA), and narrowed down my dress choices, but wanted the opinion of my dear friend.
We got to the appt. about 10 minutes early and were just going to browse around. The person who greeted us was said "just come back in twenty minutes since you're early...go grab a coffee somewhere." He wasn't very friendly, and it seemed like he was trying to get rid of us. The last few times that I went to NM locally, the associates were really nice -- they immediately offered to grab you a drink and their lookbook to browse through. So, not feeling welcome, my friend and I were walking out when the guy called us bank and said that they were finished.
We went into the back area that they have set up for bridal, and the three dresses I was deciding between were pulled for me. Since I have been dress shopping alone in the past, I have had the consultants take pictures for me, which did not turn out well (my camera is a little weird). So, we asked the consultant if my friend could take pictures and she said no, that it was against company policy. I have been to TWO separate NM stores, and they both allowed pictures to be taken.
I tried on the dress that I thought was "the one" and my friend really loved it. The consultant said that if I wanted to purchase it, she could give me 10% off and no tax. I thought that it was a nice gesture. However, after I changed and came out of the dressing room, the consultant came back out and said that she asked her manager, and she COULD NOT give me 10% off, but could waive the tax. For some reason, I found that to be really squirrely -- why did she promise something that she could not deliver?
Needless to say, I am not going to be ordering through the NM Soho store. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the treatment, but it was annoying nonetheless.
