It is getting so frustrating....I had a whole list of potential venues I was really excited about...but now it is looking really bleak:

-My top choice raised their rental rates from $6,000 (a stretch but doable) to $8,000 (no way!) so that one is out =(

-Another good choice just changed their policy from working with multiple caterers to only using one that is NOT vegetarian friendly =(

-The cool vegetarian restaurant that we like is only available on Sundays (or a really expensive saturday buyout)...and turns out that their only alcohol served is beer/wine (I don''t care, but my fiance wants it for our guests)

I want to cry....

Make you FI take some responsibility here, if he has any opinions about anything! Its a long process and best to establish some collaboration early if you are to survive.

And these obstacles are either going to make it easier to recognize the right place when it comes or make you realize that you need to change the framework of the wedding.

ie. My then-FI wanted to get married by the ocean, but not a destination wedding. We looked at every wedding venue on the coast near us for 200 miles at least, and everything had either unsuitable facilities, problematic staff, ridiculous overpricing, inaccessiblity issues, or combinations of these problems. Finally FI gave up and started looking at wineries.

Another couple might have taken the same experience and started looking in the Caribbean.

Bottom line, if you are having lots of difficulty finding what you want you might have to branch out in what you are looking for, or change the budget.

ETA: Practical suggestions are: ask the venue with the catering change if they will make an exception and use one of their previous caterers for the vegetarian reason. If they had a good working relationship with the old ones (but dropped them for convenience or some such) they may be willing.

On the hard liquor, I was really concerned too, but something has to give. If you serve good beer and wine and some malt beverages like Smirnoff Ice, you should really be able to have something for most people to drink.
