I jusr wondered if anyone else finds themselves thinking about the wedding so constantly that it takes over your stream of natural thought?

My birthday is July 1st, little over a week away and I have absolutely NO idea what I want to do for it. People ask me what gift I would like and I am drawing a huge blank. I have been so actively thinking about wedding bits and pieces that my birthday has been thrown into the background.

It is a significant birthday for me in a way. My 29th. My last birthday in my 20''s. I am dreading turning 30, so I see this as a celebration that there is a little more life in me yet!!

Anyone else finding thinking about real life tricky in the midst of wedding planning?

only now that it is getting really close to the date. I went to the library the other day and checked out a bunch of books, all the ladies there know me because my mom works there and the one woman was walking to me about my wedding and then said "July 9" and I said, "No, July 11" and she goes "oh I meant that all your books are due then". I felt like such a moron because that''s all I can think about these days!!!

Yes, it sure is. I am totally in the "just-get-here-already" phase of the engagement. I only planned my birthday party one week in advance this year, too (and normally I have huge, themed bashes). I ended up throwing together a party, but I really didn''t want to plan anything intricate AT ALL!

More than anything, though, don''t be afraid of 30, Merry! Granted, I am only at the foothills of my 30s, but they have been my best years yet! So much less awkward and dramatic than the 20s.

I sure hope so Katamari.

I am SO young in my outlook that I cannot imagine being in my 30''s/40''s etcetc. I know deep down there is nothing to fear, but I am happy to enjoy the last vestiges of my youth.

Again this evening my FI has been questioning me about what I would like to do for my birthday and I am drawing a complete blank.

I am so totally young--I feel, look, and live youthfully. I am sure you will, too

The theme for my b-day party this year was a worst mix-tape party, if you want to steal my theme. I had everyone make a 5 song mix of the worst songs they could come up with that were released in my lifetime. We listened to all of them over food and (lots of) drinks. It was hilarious! I loved it--and everyone else seemed to love it, too. It was a blast!

Do you like to game? You could have a board/Wii/etc. game night.

Hahaha that sounds like a fun idea!

And yep, my fiance and I are big gamers. We could have a Rockband night!

I have become a bit of a whizz on the drums!

Oooh! I love the idea of a Rockband bday party! And, I am so jealous you are good at drums. They are definitely what I am worst at on that game.

I used to be in a steel band (you know, the carribean steel drums) at school so I have a good sense of rhythm already and am used to playing with sticks, which helps.. My older brother is a natural drummer. Well, musician, he can pick up any instrument and play it. He is an awesome drummer though. so maybe it runs in the family?

I love the Rockband night idea now!

I think we might be going to watch Ice Age 3 as it is out on my birthday.

Maybe that weekend we could do the game night though.

Sounds like you just planned TWO birthday parties

See not a problem!

How cool that you were in a steel band! That is flat awesome!

Yes, and definitely not in a good way....I had a personal bridezilla moment recently when FSIL announced that her baby shower is the weekend BEFORE our wedding in a different city! I didn''t tell anyone else, but secretely I was super pissed that she would dare to have her baby shower the week before MY wedding!

Doesn''t her world revolve around MY wedding? Mine does!

In all seriousness, I realize that she has no control over her shower as she isn''t planning it and there is no way to block off the whole month before my wedding (is there?), but I was still ticked by it. I sent a super sweet reply that FI and I aren''t going to be able to attend as we will have family that will begin to arrive in town to help with the last minute preparations for our wedding. I had to read it several times to make sure I wasn''t being snarky...

Sure, I''m thinking about it at least on the back burner 24/7. DF and I were together 3.5 years before getting engaged and will have been together 5+ years when we actually tie the knot. I feel like I''ve been *waiting* for this time forever. And I''m thrilled, and in awe by our relationship. I want to make sure I''m *enjoying* each step of it. Which has led to the subscription to magazines that I don''t really have time for...but would love to immerse myself in. Pricescope is my main wedding time sap.

I''m loving the planning stages because I love finally being engaged and knowing that for DF and I, it''s as if we are already married. Our lives our so intertwined, we own property...literally the only thing we''re waiting for marriage for is kids.

Live it up, indulge in being engaged. It''s a short time, when you are planning to spend forever with someone.

My thought stream hasn''t just been taken over, but I eat, breath, hear, see, think, and live wedding. People are telling me now to just chill, because it is nearly a year away. And I reply "I''m doing all the stressing out now, and planning way ahead, so that when it comes to the real crunch time, things will be a breeze."

Now, ask me if I believe this statement actually has any truth to it what so ever.

H and I try to have a night designated where talk about parents and wedding is not allowed, we fail within 5 minutes, and then again 30 minutes later. Its ridiculous! I think just like a relationship''s beginning, the "honeymoon" phase of wedding planning will die down and things will be a little more normal. On the other hand, with my FMIL, it is entirely possible I am dreaming.

Don''t worry about it girly! Most of us are in this boat I think!
