I am thinking of getting the fiance to be a subscription to a wedding **** magazine. Which one do you think has the best content and is geared most toward doing a middle class, budgeted wedding?

I am trying to post this as a poll, but not sure if I am going to figure it out. Just in case the poll does not come up, the choices that I know of are Bridal Guide, Brides, and Modern Bride.

Right now, I only subsrcibe to Martha Stewart Weddings. I love the ideas in the mag, but I''m not sure how practical they would be. I''m not engaged yet, but when I am I will probably concentrate on the local wedding magazines. I live in MD and there is a mag called (I think?) Baltimore Bride. Maybe check to see if there are any local bride mags for the city you plan to marry in.

I voted for "other." I like InStyle Weddings the best.

I voted for Modern Bride - I think it has great ideas, articles, and pictures.

Martha Stewart Weddings is my favorite, but it only comes out 4 times a year, I think.
In Style Weddings is nice, but it too only comes out once every few months, and highlights more pricey
things than a normal person would usually afford. It does give good ideas though.

Just my 2 cents!

Okay wait...so it's not like, dirty pictures of three tiered cakes.....or wedding favors in compromising positions????

I was trying to search before I posted the poll to make sure the topic wasn''t already covered and found the "wedding ****" term. Caught me off guard at first but figured I''d better use it or stand out as an amateur.

I just thought of something. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure she doesn''t already have access to some "wedding ****"? Or a secret subscription? We girls sometimes hide the mags so that boyfriends don''t see or find out. Hence, "wedding ****".

HERE HERE. I think InStyle is the best, period.

Frankly I would suggest you go buy her a few titles in the bookstore and let her read them all, and tell her that you will subscribe her to one if there is one she likes. I don''t beleive inStyle weddings is subscribable.

I really reccomend doing the joint subscription to Brides and Modern Bride. They are both by Conde Nast and come out alternate months, so you get one the one month, the other the next. Its only like $20 for both subscriptions for a year.

Instyle weddings and martha stewart are both very good but only come out every 3 or 4 months.. so I dont'' bother subscribing to those.

I succumbed to the wedding industry and got a subscription to martha stewart weddings. it was a fit of insanity, I know.

I also like instyle weddings too, I feel like they have some different stuff.

But if you''re looking for budget, middle class stuff, I say, forget abt wedding mags, they only plant ideas of expensive, unique, and hard to find stuff sometimes!! Get Bridal Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields. Good stuff.

It''s a great thought for your FI though! My FI told me he was gonna buy me a wedding mag the other day, but he didn''t bc he wasn''t sure if I already had it!!! Sigh.

Thanks for all the input. I went w/ the 3 yr Modern Bride subscription for $4.99. Who really needs 3 yrs of it, but it was only $1 more than 1 yr, so she can pass them on to friends. I also took the Bridal Bargains book suggestion ($11.50 delivered from overstock.com). Many people on these boards have raved about it.

After all of that, I found a 1 yr subscription to all 3 (Bridal Guide, Brides, and Modern Bride) for $12.99. That''s probably overkill, but for those truly obsessed.

E-bay is very bad for some things, but very good for mag subscriptions.

I also got my subs on eBay....I got Modern Bride, Brides and also did a Martha subscription...MB and Brides were like $9.99 for 1 year for both, and Martha was something like $20? Oh and I bought InStyle Weddings when it came out at the newstand.

I found that Modern Bride and Brides pretty much had almost the same stuff, I liked the eye candy in InStyle....and Martha was great for ideas.
