I thought this would be a fun way to read a little bit about fellow PSers weddings, including those who are already married.

When did you get engaged? 16th Feb 2009, on the stone bridge over the lake in Central Park, NYC
When did you start planning your wedding? About 2-3 weeks later
How long will you have been engaged before the wedding?17 and a half months (we get married on 1st August 2010)
What day is your wedding?Sunday
Is anyone assisting with the planning? Mum and wedding planner/ coordinator
Where are you having the wedding? Is the ceremony site different from the reception site? The wedding will be held at a country hotel in Yorkshire, England. Ceremony and receptopn are both being helf there.
How many BM''s/GM''s are in the wedding? So far we have one best (wo)man and I have one BM (13 year old cousin). We will probably have a couple of DFs friends as ushers, but I won''t have any more BMs
What are your colors? I am liking lilacs and purpley tones
Do you have a theme? If so, what is it?No theme as yet, but I want a classical elegant look without being fuddy duddy. I like the idea of it being styled well. I am getting picky about details and find myself dreaming about logos on place cards etc
What kind of flowers are you having (bouquets, centerpieces, bouts)? Not really thought about exact details, but am thinking of traditional English summer blooms such as delphiniums, but with hydrangeas etc too.
DJ or band? What kind of music? We are having a lunch reception, so there won''t be dancing. We will have music for the ceremony and while we are eating, and will probably have some of it being live.

Any favor ideas? We won''t have formal favours- we will make a donation to the cardiac unit that looked after my late dad. If the budget will stretch we might do going away bags for people- with a smoked salmon bagel, piece of cake or cupcake, mini bottle of champagne and some juice. As it is a luncheon, people won''t want big tea, and lots will be driving back home, so we thought it was quite a cute idea (of course the juice will be for the drivers and not the champagne!
Are you going to engage in any traditions during the ceremony/reception? Not really thought about it

What is a mashed potato martini bar???

LOL! Just 3 different types of mashed potatos served in martini glasses with about 20 different toppings for them. Has nothing to do w/ martinis except for the glass! lol

Good thread, princess! (BTW Next time, for sure!) I enjoyed reading everyone''s responses
Now that I''m an old married lady, here goes...

When did you get engaged?
Jan 5th 2008
When did you start planning your wedding?
Spring ''08, soon after the engagement party, which was very late March
How long will you have been engaged before the wedding?
15 1/2 months
What day is your wedding?
It was Saturday, April 18th 2009
Is anyone assisting with the planning?
Just me & DH
Where are you having the wedding? Is the ceremony site different from the reception site?
The Ceremony was held outdoors at a place called Pennsbury Manor, a historic site/park. It was William Penn''s summer house.
The reception was at a reception hall, closer to my apartment (and most family)

How many BM''s/GM''s are in the wedding?
3 Bridesmaids and 3 Groomsmen.
What are your colors?
Spring green and fuschia

Do you have a theme? If so, what is it?
Not really, but looking back, I realize I had a lot of floral stuff going on.
What kind of flowers are you having (bouquets, centerpieces, bouts)?
My Bouquet: White & green hydrangea, mini callas, Esperanza roses (huge ivory w/ pink tips), green hypericum berries, hanging amaryllis, white lisianthus, and green button poms
BM''s were the same, but smaller, with pink callas and fuschia roses (their''s were all pink and green, no white or ivory)
White mini callas for the bouts
Centerpieces: High & low mix, with the above flowers... they had stargazer lillies in them too

DJ or Band? What kind of music?
DJ. Traditional wedding music, with some funk thrown in, and some of the old Italian crooners (Dean Martin). DH''s fam is Italian... "That''s Amore" and "Mambo Italiano" were absolute musts.
Oh, and we had a harpist at the ceremony
What kind of food will be served? (including cake ) How will it be served?
Passed hor ''d orves (sp? I hate that word!): Coconut shrimp, Jerk Chicken, Mini beef wellington, and spring rolls. There was an antipasti station with chesses, bruchetta, roasted peppers, olives, etc. Dinner was sit-down, served. Duet platters of crab-stuffed flounder and chicken stuffed with roasted red peppers and cheese and tomato. You could also pick to have double flounder or double chicken. Served with green beans and a twice-baked potato. There was a dessert flambe station (bananas foster). The cake had alternating layers of lemon pound and marble pound cake with buttercream icing.

How many people are invited?
130-ish Final count was 115
What accessories are you using? (veil, headpiece, earrings, etc)
My mom''s mantilla veil, my grandmom''s pearl drop earrings. I had gotten a necklace from Macy''s - like a circle of rhinestones with a pearl inside, which I wore. Also, some cheapie rhinestone flowers for my hair from AC Moore.

What dress are you wearing? Are you changing dresses for the reception?
La Sposa Margarita. I wore it all night.
Any wedding ring ideas?
I lucked out and found a WB that matched my ER enough that I didn''t have to go custom. DH was so funny.... he was super picky. He ended up with a WB from Lynn jewelers on Jewelers Row. White gold with millgrained edges, and a very slight herringbone pattern on the ring itself.

Where to for the honeymoon?
What''s a honeymoon?? J/K. We have a week''s timeshare to our choice of resorts (a very nice wedding gift from my aunt). But DH is in school, full time in the spring and fall, and part time in the summer. It''s just a matter of finding the time. I think we''ll go to the Carribbean somewhere..

Any favor ideas?
Cookies. 3 per guest in these cute little boxes that we found online.
Are you going to engage in any traditions during the ceremony/reception?
We did the whole bouquet/garter toss, with a twist... my brother got up and made this speech about how it''s "not proper" for DH to look up my skirt, and insisted that he had to be blindfolded. Then DH''s 90 year old grandpop sat in the chair I was sitting in, and pulled up his pant leg. DH''s reaction was hilarious. DH''s family also has a tradition... "That''s Amore" plays, and the married couple dances in the middle of the dance floor. The rest of the family holds hands and makes a circle around the couple, and dances around them.

When did you get engaged?
February 14, 2008

When did you start planning your wedding?
Pretty much right after

How long will you have been engaged before the wedding?
It was about 15 months

What day is your wedding?
It was May 2, 2009

Is anyone assisting with the planning?
Pretty much me and DH. My mom has been ill, and lives out of state, so she wasn''t able to help out. But she made it pretty clear beforehand that she didn''t want the headache of planning anyway! Our bridal party and friends helped us a lot with the execution, though, and came with us when we looked at venues or gave us ideas on where to go for our cake, dress, etc.

Where are you having the wedding? Is the ceremony site different from the reception site?
It was at a golf club in Northern CA.
We did it all at one site for the ease of everyone!

How many BM''s/GM''s are in the wedding?
Originally, 5 BMs, 6 GMs. But MOH got pregnant and was not able to fly out, so 4 BMs and 6GMs.

What are your colors?
We used used mainly white, green, and espresso brown, with some pink here and there.

Do you have a theme? If so, what is?
Theme? We don''t need to stinkin'' theme! J/k, at most, we named our reception tables after places we enjoyed visiting, or were to visit for our honeymoon. Each place had a quiz as an ice breaker for the table.

What kind of flowers are you having (bouquets, centerpieces, bouts)?
The tall centerpieces were white phaleonopsis orchid stems placed in tubes towering over a base of green button mums, spider mums, and berries. The lower centerpieces were pomanders of green button mums (because BM got a crazy deal on them) with a brown organza ribbon. The sweetheart table had orchids and green spider mums.
My bouquet had green roses, white peonies with a yellow-green center, green cymbidium orchids, green spider mums, white cosmos, and big green berries. It was huge!
The BMs had green and white roses, and the Groom had a green cymbidium bouteniere (sp?), the GMs had calla lillies (since best man wanted flowers and not just berries, lol). The dads had freesia, and the moms had a mixed corsage.

DJ or band? What kind of music?
Ceremony/cocktail hr - harpist
Reception - DJ

What kind of food will be served? (including cake ) How will it be served?
Passed h''or deurves
Sit down dinner. Brioche encrusted petite fillet mignon with roasted bone marrow. Seared striped bass with a saffron mussel jus and peashoot salad. Mixed organic green salad with a wedge of really good cheese, smoked grapes, sweet toasted walnuts, and fuji apples
Cake: 4 tiers, all different flavors. 2 were fruit filled - can''t remember...tiramisu, and an opera cake layer. People were encouraged and did try the different flavors out.
Sliders - lamb, pulled pork, and bacon cheeseburger!

How many people are invited?
Over 200. Thankfully, we had about 140 show up. DH has a huge family.

What accessories are you using? (veil, headpiece, earrings, etc)
Borrowed veil. My earrings were these $12 pearl earrings from Off Fifth Saks...but I forgot to bring them!!! So my BM, was a god send and picked up a pair on the day of the wedding from Macy''s. I wore a pearl bracelet, and that was it for jewelry!
Shoes: Gold Derek Lam heels with wrap-around straps for the ceremony. Raspberry Manolo Seadaraby heels for the reception. White platform Nine West thongs for the end of the night!

What dress are you wearing? Are you changing dresses for the reception?
I wore a white dress of chantilly lace and silk chiffon. It''s the Christina by Junko Yoshioka. Did I change? Oh hell no, I spent so much I needed to get as much wear time out of the dress! But it was extremely comfortable and the train made for gorgeous pictures. I will get my wed pics on line, I promise!

Any wedding ring ideas?
u prong 10-diamond band. hubby wanted a platinum band, but unique from anything else. It has two grooves and two trillions in the middle.

Where to for the honeymoon?
1 week Tenerife Isl, Spain
1 week Barcelona, Spain

Any favor ideas?
We did a candy bar. In retrospect, it should have been by the entrance/exit door, because I don''t know if everyone saw it. In retrospect, it shouldn''t have been by the kids'' table, lol! At some point I made it back there and the carpet had become a war zone. And the kids had multi-color drinks. But they had fun, and the kids (and some guests) walked out with jars full of candy. Then DH told the kids more candy was stashed under the table. It made clean up easy. I''m sure their parents were thrilled
9.gif

Are you going to engage in any traditions during the ceremony/reception?
We did the father/daughter, mother/son dance. We did the bouquet toss and garter toss. DH''s family tradition is to stick $$ in the bouquet and the garter. It encourages participation.
