Anyone have any recommendations for sites that will let us make a wedding webpage? The Knot is great but we''re having two weddings--you can only put info for one wedding on a Knot site. Right now we have started two wedding sites on the Knot but I''d rather have all the info for both weddings on 1 site. I think it might get confusing for guests with 2 sites. We''re sending out the save-the-date''s this week or next and I really want to have a website to put on them. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I''ve found the Knot and Wedding Channel sites limiting, so I''ve started looking for alternatives myself. I''ve been trying out WebQuarters.com - a year with them only costs $25, and it''s very customizable. Not sure if I''m going to go with it yet, as I do actually know how to make a website from scratch, I feel like I should just go ahead and make my own.

I use Wedding Announcer -http://www.weddingannouncer.com/forum/index.php?referrerid=486

It is free and you can look at my webpage to get an idea if you like it or not. Nearly everything is customizable. There are also budget & planning tools and a great (very active) forum.

Thanks guys!

I already started checking out blogspot.com and that might be an option.

Misty--thanks for the resource!! HOW FUN!!! I am going to be on that site a lot, I think!! I can''t wait to check out your website too!

How did I ever miss that site! WeddingAnnoucer looks great!

The site is fairly new. WA Started in July.

Wow, Misty, your site looks great! It makes me feel kinda bad for spending $70 on my wedding website. Here''s my site if you want to check it out:

Your site looks great! You two look so happy! (There are Jamaica wedding ladies on WA. -can you tell I like it there?)

Misty,
I LOVE your website! It''s very lovely!
NOw I''m regretting our simple theknot site.

Dang Brightspot!
You two are just too cute. No one is really that cute! YOU look like two models in a photoshoot.
I love your website too, darn, I''m such a slacker!!

Misty and BrightSpot--I love your sites!! Too cute!!

This is what I''m going for but I have to find a host that let''s us give more than 1 wedding date. Gosh darn it, I''m gonna have to figure this out soon so I can sent out the save-the-dates! I''m such a technophobe...

Tybee--what''s your Knot site? Those are cute templates--don''t have regrets.

I''d use one if they''d let us put ALL the wedding info in them.

Thanks, ladies! If you guys have any suggestions for my site, please let me know. I''m especially not sure about the "about us" section. I want it to be cute & tell a little about us w/o being TMI for my parents/their friends if ya know what I mean. Our save-the-dates should be arriving any day now so I''m a little stressed to make sure the site is complete, informative, easy to navigate, etc.

I had a Knot site for a long time, but finally broke down & invested in the site I posted when we were making our save-the-dates. We sent out flip flops as our STDs (crazy, I know!) so we couldn''t enclose much information on them. As I was printing out our web address on the knot, I had the fear that no one would remember the long link & visit the site so I finally broke down & purchased this one. (Also, I was a bit afraid nobody would be able to spell my name correctly!

Tybee, I''d love to see your knot site too if you''re sharing!

I would''ve stuck w/ my Knot site if I didn''t have such a crazy STD idea.

Selflove, I think the service I chose lets you add as many "events" as you want. You can only have the one wedding date, but you can label your different events & include information on each. I agree that having 2 sites would probably be confusing for guests.

He he, our knotsite doesn''t even have a picture of us on it (we used a picture we took in St. John). We are basically using it for RSVP''s and basic information.
I''m not that proud or excited about it...maybe I''ll fix it up and add a link. Thanks for the interest ladies!
Our save the dates were electronic too. I''d post them, but I think there''s too much information about hotels and stuff, not a lot of personal stuff. We just sent our Save-the-dates out this week. I''m so anxious I keep checking to see if anyone has responded. I''m such a geek, our wedding isn''t until July.

okay, here''s the picture from our save-the-date. we have about a bazillion pictures of ourselves
that one of us has taken by holding he camera out in front of us. Notice my FI''s rather large arm in the forground/

Here''s the shot that we put on the knot website.

Someone here has a website at weddingwindow.com, I forget who. I love their sites, you can customize them a lot, I just can''t bring myself to pay for it.

If you just want a website, you can sign up for a free one at many diff places, blog sites like blogspot.com, which was already mentioned, or xanga.com, which you can customize a lot if you pay a bit extra, and livejournal.com..

Hope you find a good option for what you need... and be sure to show us the end product...

Tybee, you guys are just adorable! What a cute picture & the photo of the tree is lovely too!

Aah, dreaming of the Caribbean...

Tybee--GREAT self-portrait!! They are hard to do but your''s is really good...and I loooooooooove that caribbean water...

I''m still no further on the website project b/c I got distracted by the save-the-dates. Originally we were going to send two postcards to each guest: one of the southern CA coastline and the other of the Slovenian mountains. Then I got a brilliant idea to custom make 1 postcard with a panoramic picture of the CA coast on the top half of the card with the words "May 6, 2006" and on the bottom half a panoramic of the Alps of Slovenia with the words "May 13, 2006". Then on the back we''ll put info for both events with 1 website address. I love it but now we just gotta pull it off...

On Wedding Announcer, you can easily create your own events and stuff like that. I don''t know how to make 2 wedding dates on the front page. But I bet admin could. You can rename any of the pages too. So you could have one be Wedding 1 and the other Wedding 2 (but as dates or something)

I hope you do find something to work for you.

SelfLove,

I absolutely love your idea for the Save the Dates (I can''t bring myself to abbreviate that one....)--I think it would be really beautiful (and cool to see the difference in the geography, etc)! To answer your original question, I used ewedding.com. I had read about it in WSJ and thought it sounded like a good fit.

It was just under $90 for the year, which was expensive but I liked it for several reasons. First, I spread the info about our website only on the Save the Date magnets I made and I didn''t want to have a company''s name in the web address (which is kind of anal/superficial, but it was only $90, so, eh...). Other website hosting companies charge extra to have your own domain name without their name stuck into it--so the prices are sometimes misleading... I also felt the backgrounds you had to build the website off had a lower cheese factor than the others.

Below is a link where you can see some sample sites of the different backgrounds... I picked "Elegance" (Ugh-cheesy name, but I liked the Flash component) in green.

Well, like I said earlier, I had to go check out WeddingAnnouncer, and I loved it. I''ve just about finished setting up the site so I can email out save-the-dates to our first batch of invitees (family/friends of family- we''re still not sure how many of our friends get to come, so they don''t get save the dates). My only complaint: why do the sites always make you choose your bridal party titles off of a list?! I have a man standing up with me, and there''s a woman on the groom''s side. So I prefer to call everyone attendants instead of bridesmaids/groomsmen. My fiance likes the terms groomsmaid and bridesman. None of these were options, though for once I didn''t have to make them as ''other'', which I think is soooo rude. The box gave me the option ''friend of groom'' and ''friend of bride'', so I used those. I think I might make my own wedding party page without their little form so that everyone''s descriptions will match. Basically the site has been fabulous. Let me know if there''s anything I''m missing!

Faerievert--I like your blog site! What''s your WA website?

I tried the blog sites and the ewedding site and the knot and WA. I went with WA. I think it really does everything I want it to do. Let me know what you think. Honest opinions are okay here.

I know, it''s contagious! After seeing all the beautiful and fun and romantic engagement photo sessions people posted on PS, I convinced my FI that we should do it.

All the websites were easy to use except the blog site (I''m just a technophobe with no patience to self-teach).

how silly do I feel? I post all that and then forget to include the link to the site. Well, it''s added to my signature now so I can never forget again! Finally got around to fixing my avatar while I was at it.

Self-love. Your site looks good (I almost used that theme myself!). Definitely a good solution for the two-wedding issue. Don''t forget to go in and disable all the pages you''re not using, and ad your own picture in the setting for the upper right hand corner. Let me know if you need help making a photo square to use up there.

Mistylark- a big thank you for turning us on to Wedding Announcer!

Thanks Faerievert--I might take you up that with the square picture formatting.

Misty--thanks again!! I love how there are different cyber-communities of brides.

I''m late on saying thanks for the compliments on our silly pictures girls. I got so freaked out about posting us on here, don''t know why... Maybe the same reason I''m shy about creating a website.
Yours all look so very great.
Wheels are starting to turn...
Perhaps perhaps perhaps.

you guys are welcome! i was blahhh about wedding websites, bc the only one I knew that was free was the knot. granted it has your info, but I wanted fun!

i still check-in on other boards, but my home is WA. I have even started a journal on there. (i think it may be similar to a blog - i''m a little uncool when it comes to tech-terminology)
