Since we are on a tight budget, I am trying not to spend too much on the FI's wedding present from me. But I really wanted him to have something special. He usually wears shirts that require cuff links, the wedding shirt he had custom made also require cuff links. I was thinking of getting him these cuff links. I would have one side with a map of Edisto Island, SC (where we are getting married) and the other side would have Kiawah Island, SC (where we got engaged). Does that sound like a good idea?

Also, the main concern I have is should I get it in glass or resin? Which do you think will wear better? Glass is $35 per pair (as pictured below), resin is $30 per pair.

Thanks!

Those are so charming! How lovely that they fit your special day(s) so well.

(FWIW, I''d vote glass.)

I don''t know which would hold up better, but I''d vote for glass. I love the idea BTW! I''m planning on getting FI a pair of cufflinks for the wedding present as well. I think I''m going to get him a pair of gray and black Burberry ones. But I live those map ones too. Very sentimental and sweet! Great idea!

That is an awesome idea! I think those are great!

No clue on teh glass vs resin... other than I would assume glass is going to crack if it falls, whereas resin is probably softer... however, I worry that resin wouldn''t be clear/white like glass is.

No. help. at. all.

That''s a fantastic idea! (this is coming from a gal who wears cufflinks very often on my work shirts - I have about 20 differnt pairs and I

them!)

I would go for the glass pair as:

1. It doesn''t scratch as easily; and
2. It will feel a bit heavier and I prefer having a bit of weight in my cufflinks

I''m from SC, so I

the idea!

Super cute! You could keep the gift going and start a collection of cuff links for him for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Thanks ladies, I''m going with the glass ones. I hope FI likes them. He is originally from SC, we live/met in Chicago. FI vacationed at Edisto through his childhood so it has sentimental value. Kiawah is where he would go through his teens and twenties with friends. I only care that our wedding is on the beach

I''m really excited to get out to Edisto Island, we rented a few beach houses for the week of the wedding. I will post pics of the finished cuff links when I get them in a week.

I love those, cupcake*muffin, and want to get them for my fiance, too. :) Will you share the seller?

Those are so cute! And I really like the sentimental meaning behind them

No problem. Her shop is Sweetmaddie: http://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetmaddie

Everyone else I saw was doing them with Resin and most were more expensive than hers. Good luck! I love Etsy!

Those are darling! No knowledge about the glass v. resin thing, but I think they''re adorable and an awesome idea. I gave DH cufflinks as a wedding present, too.

YAY! They are done!
