Hi everyone! I''m on a business trip right now, but I''m determined to run 3 times a week until my race. I went down to the hotel "gym" (aka old guest room with a treadmill in it) and attempted to run 3 miles on this treadmill. It was terrible!! The treadmill was pushing me in the opposite direction & not propelling me along at all! I made it through 2 miles, but then I had to stop. It was killing my lower legs & I could barely breathe. I felt like someone was pushing me backwards the entire time. ugh! I''m going to try again tomorrow, hoping for some freak maintenance on this thing & hopefully I''ll make my goal.
Anyway...it sounds like everyone is doing great with their workouts! Dixie, congrats on your progress with your running program! If you ever wanted to run in a 5K, you absolutely could even if you walked a little bit. In the 2 that I''ve raced in, I''ve definitely walked maybe 1/3 of the total race. I finished both races in just under 36 minutes. When I run on the treadmill, I alternate between 5.0 mph for running & 3.5-3.8 for walking times. When I first started, I ran at 4.8 mph & would walk between 3.2-3.5. I love the races because they keep me motivated to run the mileage at the gym and the race is a good measure of my progress. Plus, the races are fun! There are always tons of people at them & many times you''ll get a good crowd cheering everyone on. So in my opinion, you should definitely sign up for one (especially if you can convince some friends - that always makes it more fun!) and not be concerned at all about running the whole thing!
I love all types of burgers...regular beef burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers & buffalo burgers. Mmmmmmmmmm, mmmmmmm (I''m getting hungry!). My fiance & I buy the 99% lean ground turkey, so it''s super healthy and quite tasty. We usually put bbq sauce, garlic, onion, basil, oregano & pepper in them. They are usually so moist that we don''t even need cheese. For veggie burgers, we are sure never to buy the ones with the soy in them (I don''t like them & I don''t want my veggie burger pretending to be a hamburger). I tend to buy the ones where I know what the ingredients are (carrots, peas, corn meal, etc). They really are quite yummy, but absolutely not a substitute for a real burger.
Ok, I should stop rambling now - have a great week all!
