Well, I''ve been lurking ''round here forever (seriously..) and am in need of some advice for our wedding colors- and I know you ladies have great style! We''re planning a July ''08 wedding, and the venue is a classic turn of the century temple with mahogany pews, beautiful stained glass windows, and a great contemporary ballroom done in creams and light wood. It will be a twilight black tie affair.

Here are a few of our ideas for color schemes (we have light, dark and redheaded bridesmaids, so keep that in mind!)

1) Grassy-green dresses, fuschia/cream flowers
2) Cobalt blue dresses, yellow/orange flowers
3) Light grey dresses, fuschia and/or yellow flowers

The dresses will most likely be made by a seamstress, so we don''t need to pick styles, etc- just the color scheme.

Any thoughts? I do love #3, but am afraid the color will wash them out without the flowers (plus, my sister did silver, and I''m reticent to almost replicate hers..)

The ballroom.. (partially)

I like combo #1 the best!

Me too!

Number 3 is my next favorite.

Number 2 loses for me.

#1 is contemporary, fresh, and gorgeous on a red head.

Here is the sanctuary (my cropping skills could definitely use a tune-up)

I think your reasons for avoiding #3 are good ones. So #1 or #2? It depends on the colour of green you mean. Green is tricky: it can be very flattering, or it can make people look like they''re in the last stages of very bad flu. If you have a colour in mind that would be good for all your bridesmaids, I think it would be great. If not, #2 is a safer choice, and still lovely. Plus, having the bright flowers will make it unlike the usual pale blue/rose wedding.

Do you have pictures of colours, or flowers, or dresses that have caught your eye?

And ok, this doesn''t really have anything to do with colors... but hello custom build-up! I think I''m in love...

This was the green I had in mind (nice crop job, eh?)or perhaps even a little greener. I like the gold accents too, not overwhelming but a nice option if the bridesmaids like it.

#1 was my colour scheme! Green, fuchsia, and cream. So I vote for that one! Plus, I can ''see'' those colours more than I can see the others - based on the ballroom pics you provided. I think green would look lovely against the dark browns and creams, more so than the blue and grey colours.

Exactly what I thinking!

Umm...I''m biased towards #1, because those are MY wedding colors, too...celery green for the guys, fuschia for the girls and cream for FI and me! Go fuschia and green!

I also have a thread on here somewhere about bouquets to go with fuschia and green and the lovely ladies here came up with some GORGEOUS options I am sending to my wedding planner in Maui.

Please let me know if you want me to send you any pictures of the color combos I have saved!

Here is a pic of my wedding party attire:

I like #1. I am not a big fan of cobalt blue dresses and I agree that gray dresses might be too washed out on some people.

I found a pic that might help too.

Harleigh,

Oh, I LOVE the fuscia dresses pictured here..and the green shirts are nice / subtle. I think this is PERFECT for Maui. These colors remind me of a certain variety of tropical orchid, that could be incooporated into the floral decor. I can so picture it...

This is a great example! I like the idea of fuschia BM dresses also.

I like #1, then #3

I would vote for option number one. I think the green will make each individual girls'' coloring pop!

Thanks, Missrocks! I would have loved to have had green dresses as I have 2 blondes, a redhead and a brunette, but 3 of the 4 HATE green, so I was trying to be accommodating to their likes and dislikes...and I just don''t think the guys would have liked to wear fucshia, so it works out all around for me!

I am still trying to figure out my bouquets as it will be a handheld "tropical" bouquet, but no one seems to be able to get back to me with what exactly tropical flowers there *might* be! Arghhh!

Ooh, Gypsy, thank you for finding that picture! I think I''m leaning towards that combo after all!
Harleigh- I love those dresses! The perfect combination of a breezy Hawaii feel with some color-drama...

I''ve been thinking of using cream flowers for the bridesmaids, since I don''t want it to be super-screechy coming down the aisle, and fuschia for my bouquet. Centerpieces would use a mix of the two, I''ll try and find some photos for inspiration. I like modern or tight arrangements using branches/candles that are monochromatic (If any of you have a few to share, that would be wonderfu!)

Thanks, bgirl! I love the color combo Gypsy posted, too!

I, too, was thinking of cream with subtle fucshia accents for the BM bouquets and then fucshia for mine with cream and pale green accents.

I''m not home right now, but I''ll look through my saved pictures when I get home and see what I can share with you.

Hi again,

I don''t think we''ll be having any centerpieces at our dinner reception in Maui, but here are some inspiration pictures I''ve saved from looking around online and some that other PS''ers so generously found for me.

I only know how to post one pic at a time, but I''m going to attempt to do a collage...if not, I''ll trickle them in slowly!

Some pictures were in bunches with other pix, so please disregard the ones that don''t go with the color scheme!

ETA: The collage is a NO GO!!! I really stink at this!

This is one of the more tropical ones, but it looks REALLY big to me!

I like how simple these are, and I love Gerbera daisies, but not sure these are available with my wedding package.

5bright.jpg

I like how bright this one is, but not sure if it''s too much against a cream dress...

6brightpink.jpg

I think these are just GORGEOUS!!!

7callas.jpg

I thought this was a really cool orchid...might be interesting against my fucshia dresses, but wouldn''t go with any green dresses, I don''t think!

8green.jpg

Really like the greens in this one, but worry the flowers might be a bit too purply...

Not a big rose fan myself, but my girls like these...
