There''s no going back! I just mailed my star sapphire out to James Meyer. He will be mounting it in 1373. It should be about 6 weeks. Now for the nail-biting wait!

6 weeks is torture! But I am sure it will be well worth it.

Ooooh Yay!! That is going to be gorgeous! I am useless at waiting too so I feel sorry for you!

Uppy-that is going to be amazing!!!

The waiting part isn't the hardest for me. I figured (and was kind of expecting) there would be a lot of folks saying "FINALLY!!" For really personal, planned projects I hem and haw so long trying to commit that I've never yet regretted the final choice. I hear the voices in my head rolling their eyes telling me to hurry up and get on with it!

I have to admit that I have become an official James Meyer junkie though!! I cannot imagine ever consigning a piece of jewelry to anyone other than him. I think his designs hit my personal sweet spot perfectly!! I have a bunch of small oecs/omcs that I'd love to have him set into a Christian cross that I could wear daily. I feel so connected to his aesthetic that I could just send the parcel to him and tell him to email me when it was done!

I love your star and that ring will be amazing! Are you using yellow gold?

Oh my gosh, I don''t think there is a single ring I''ve seen from James Meyer that hasn''t been magnificent--I can''t imagine how impatient you must be to get it back! I can''t wait to see the result!!!

Yes, I will. The main body of the ring will be 18k yellow, the bezel will be 22k yellow, and the two omcs will be bezeled in platinum.

That''s going to be so BEAUTIFUL

...drool...
i''d be pretty darn impatient to get that on my finger too!!!

There''s nothing wrong with taking your time and choosing the perfect setting. You''ll get no eye-rolling from me

It takes me years to decide on how to set my stones! Enjoy the anticipation

That looks exciting! Did you supply the OMCs or do they come with the setting? 6 weeks isn''t THAT long!

Though I have plenty, I''m letting Jim supply the omcs.

Whoohoo! thats only mid march! Can''t wait to see it!!!

I talked to Jim today and he said there will need to be some modifications to the bezel to accommodate her "Bombay belly." He discourages a recut since it could (remote chance) change the intensity and quality of the star. He''s going to do a couple of drawings to show me.

Good news is..... his estimate is 4 WEEKS!!

Yay! I''m so looking forward to seeing this!

an elegant and timeless setting!

God it is amazing. I must remember the name - he should have a website.

My oec diamond three stone is actually posted on the bottom of the engagment rings page!

I truly LOVE his work! All of it. It somehow touches my heart and is exactly my aesthetic.

It''s awesome! Can''t beat a high karat gold bezel with little OMC accents. 4 weeks is going to fly by.

Really very interesting work. I should probably check if he works with stones other than cabochons - he seems to favor cabs and I do not see myself buying any in the nearest future.

I love love love that style. I keep dreaming of stones to buy so I can have him do a colored stone ring for me. I''m between your style and 1348. I don''t ever wear yellow gold, but that 18k and 22k combo is delicious...

Hmm... he''s currently making my e-ring. The fact that he bumped up your timeline makes me wonder if my BF might have told me some little lies about when mine would be done (esp. since I sent my stone 3 wks ago)...

Yay, how exciting!

It''s gonna be GORGEOUS!!! I can''t wait to see hand shots!!

Thank you. I sent him an email. Since I am not getting married I can wait till everyone''s work is finished. But I like what he is doing.

Eeee Uppy that''s going to be SO gorgeous!!!

BTW do you know how long it takes him to answer the first email?

He''s a one man band, and usually checks emails at the end of the day. I''d give him 48 hours, then just pick up the phone and give him a call.

That setting looks perfect for that stone. I think it''s great that you take your time and really get the setting right!!

TFS!
