Seems there are a lot of astronomers who think Pluto doesn''t deserve to be called a planet for various reasons. It may get deleted from the list this week.

Have you ever read "Le Petit Prince" by Antoine St. Exupery? (There''s also an English version "The Little Prince," of course). The little Prince comes from a tiny planet himself, and would be very pissed off to find out that some scientists decided it was too tiny to be considered a "planet." This Pluto thing totally reminds me of this book!

The decision isn''t based on size, but how it acts. Pluto doesn''t act how the other planets do, it acts more like a star or a moon.

I''m all for kicking Pluto out. It acts too differently to fit in with the others. "One of these does not belong, one of these things isn''t the same..."

I''ve been encouraged to read recently in the Post that, dismayed by slow action at Federal levels, cities & states are independently spending money on issues concerning global warming. Makes me feel better about our local officials.

"Xena" isn't official yet. Right now, it's "2003 UB313."

Personally, I'm not sure how I feel about this. The definition they came up with to keep Pluto may also let in dozens or even hundreds of other "planets." You just need to be round and 500 miles in diameter to get in the club now.

Boy, am I glad I''m not in 4th grade now...to have to memorize "hundreds" of planets. My poor 9 year old!
