Let me think of my diamonds over .5 ct:
E - marquise pendant
F - marquise 80s RHR
F - pear
F - CBI
E - CBI
2 F CBI side stones
Q CBI
So I guess that F is my favorite color. Still in the colorless range and a good value.
Would love a D but too expensive.
Sometimes the color grading depends on whether it is done by GIA (more rigorous color grading) or AGS (more lenient.) It also depends whether it is a high or low G or H. Here is a picture of a G and an H colored diamond. Color is not as obvious, especially when they are facing up mounted (and not enlarged as they are in the photo.)

That's lovely
So, WOW. So many different answers, and NONE of them are wrong. People like what they like. Cool.
So why is it, if you go to a hundred bricks and mortar jewelers, over 95% of them will tell you how D, E, F and possibly G are the best and everything else you only get because you want bigger than you can afford?

I'm very grateful to this forum because I learnt that cut is king and so many other niche notions, but I had the chance to compare a lot of diamonds with my own eyes and I found I have my own taste; since I spend my own money and since I buy diamonds for myself, my informed opinion is the only opinion that counts.

Love this!!!
Would love an E or F if I can afford it in the size I want. Have to ultimately go with a G, I think. Darn 3 kids in college can take all the diamond fun away .
College is more important than diamonds??..Would love an E or F if I can afford it in the size I want. Have to ultimately go with a G, I think. Darn 3 kids in college can take all the diamond fun away .
Hahahaha!College is more important than diamonds??..![]()
LOL, I only had two. I can tell you that once they are gone from college, you wish they were still coming home for Spring Break and Summer vacation.
Selfishly, I still wish they were dependent on mom and I. Realistically, they are both fantastically successful and we are so proud of them. (And we do our best to spoil the grands!
