Just wondering. I always thought the whiter the better. That, until DH surprised me with what he bought as a K - which turned out to be an L after returning from the lab. I think the colour is stunning as it adjusts to the surroundings. I think I‘d also love lower colour grades, but have not seen any in person yet. So I stick with an L for now. How about you? And why so?

Yellows are my first love, sure enough, so everything works - I will be properly amazed by a perfect vivid, & there are very magic shades around the deep/vivid border. PQ to UV - a large range of subtle yellows, remind light reflecting off gold & I love them most for it!

It is easy to understand why colourless stones are the ideal & how they belong in Pt.

A colorless stone is dreamy! Couple that with an excellent cut and higher clarity and you have yourself a gorgeous stone, but at a premium.

Someday I may own a G or above, but right now I have a K. When shopping for this ring I didn’t want anything below an I yet here I am wearing a K everyday. I love my K, BUT I am not color sensitive. Prior to this ring, for years I wore an I color and never noticed any tint, but some women are not fans of I and below. I think H is a nice sweet spot.

And then of course the lower you go into the more vivid and fancy yellow category which is also beautiful.

I personally like L and even lower color.

Since I don’t own an OEC, I can’t comment on the lower colors that seem to work so magically with them. For modern cuts, G is my sweet spot.

Until I had my EC which is an E, I was happy with G/H stones, still am, like the carré cut and MRB stones that used to belong to my mum.

I also believe I/J colour stones are great value for money, however, mind clean for me is G/H.

DK :))

I have had from E's to M's, FLY's to Fancy Browns and pinks. I love them all and think they all belong depending upon the piece of jewelry. More modern pieces I find lend better to whiter stones and lower colors are better in vintage looking settings. Colored stones look good in anything as far as I am concerned, lol.

F/G I had a I colored pear and it was so yellow, probably because of the shape.

Whiter does not equal better. White equals more rare. I am in a sweet G/H spot. I do not like spending money on something I (or others) cannot see unless compared side by side. I would rather spend money on size (given that the cut is super-deals) while still having a G/H color instead of having a smaller diamond in a D color. Both will face up white.

I prefer lower colors like L/M or lower because I love that they are chameleons. Honestly, as long as the diamond is cut well then I don't care about the color. I think cut and clarity are a lot more important than the color and if they are terrible then the diamond will not look good even if it is a D color.

I love the buttery or vintage lace lower colours in OEC’s. I have a U-V myself.
I had a colourless stone before and stopped wearing it because it feld so cold. I love colourless stones on other people though.

I like diamonds in all colours, but I do have a preference for DEF and fancy yellow diamonds. Lately I’ve been obsessed with fancy yellow green diamonds.

G is my sweet spot...but it really depends on the shape...The antique asscher in my avatar is an I...and I’m in love with it...In a mrb I still prefer a G.

I have an F and sometimes I can see tint, but since it's supposed to be in the colorless range I'm mentally okay with it. Maybe in an E I wouldn't see any tint, so that would be my preference.

I own a pair of I color super ideal cuts which I’m fine with as earrings. I’ve owned an N color CBI as an ER. I’ve had in hand 4-5 ct I color ACAs. If I were to choose another MRB as an ER I’d want F-G.

I’ve owned an M and J OEC, both beautiful diamonds. I now own an O-P OMC for my ER and after living with it a short while, I’m in love with O-P and lower colors in antique diamonds. The OMC has such a lovely chameleon personality, it glows soft buttery golden colors.

I’d love to own a very low color OEC as well.

For me, I am an equal opportunity color lover.

I love the hard white D's. I love the rich buttery warmth of the lower colors and my personal ring rocks a P, which I was expecting to be a Q.

As long as the diamond sings and dances in the light, I am a happy camper. Lots of Sparkle and Dispersion are my requirements, regardless of color.

Wink

I should add I only wear white metals, therefore, it is unlikely for me to go below J.

I love them all!
But I’m much more likely to gravitate towards fancy colors.
Right now I’m in love with my fancy gray and now want a fancy dark gray lol.

Makes sense. I’m a colored gem girl at heart.

I prefer G/H for what I consider white stones. I do not care for whiter even in modern settings which most of mine are. Antique cuts I can take more color but the lowest I currently own and know is a K ( I have several ungraded but I don't think they are lower). I like warmer colors but in yellow tones rather than brown...unless the plan is for rose gold setting but then I get REALLY picky about how it looks.
I wouldn't turn down any fancy color but especially love @MakingTheGrade fancy grey...its just very me even though my SIL has told me for years that grey isn't a color. But she has not seen that diamond!!!

I own a J, K, O-P, and a Q-R. The QR is by far my favorite color.

I'd love to see your O/P and your Q/R. I'd love a lovely cushion in a soft vintage lace color.

I love all colors of diamond! Seriously, one day I’d love to have a bracelet comprising of every possible diamond color but the cost would be astronomical so it’ll have to wait till I win the lottery.

if I had to pick however, I would say that for ‘alphabet diamonds’ I prefer the G/H sweet spot, easily willing to go down to I, because I frankly can’t see the difference between G and D unless they’re right next to each other and even then it’s hard. I find that I’s face up quite white also and tint on the side doesn’t bother me (how often will I look to the side)?

When it comes to FCDs I would say my favorite color is probably pink, but not a very vivid pink (I prefer a yummy pastel, enough tint that it is definitely pink) or bright, fancy, vivid yellow.

for me: i have different colour tolerances for different cut stones. It also depends on the project that i am working on.

I have only seen a few stones of varying colours in real life, so i can only comment on what i have seen.
I am pretty much a white metal kinda person.

Step cuts- E colour main stone.. in eternity FG is fine.
MRB- EF colour in earrings.
OEC- I colour for earrings in white metal.. ST colour in a YG ring
FCD- love all of them..current favs: Gray Violet and pinks/ Blue green/ Yellow Oranges, all of these are set in WG.

Originally, I didn't like colorless stones--only FCD (which I couldn't afford) and gemstones. DH insisted on a colorless stone for my ER, a small G stone and after I started wearing it, I was entranced by the sparkle. Fast forward to now and I love most colors of diamonds. My favorites are FLY and lower color old cuts, but I would happily wear most colors and I am still in love with my little G ER.
