Shhhhhh....don''t tell anyone...ok? When there is no music I sing....(dont'' tell!!) shhh...get closer, I''ll whisper them...

"how much is that puppy in the window"
....and "my favorite things! "

awh...isn''t that sweet? What a loser! Pathetic. §

Hahaha!

Don''t tell, but...I make up song lyrics about my kitties set to popular tunes, and then I of course sing the songs to them!

Er....I make up songs about the food I''m cooking. For some reason, the veggies usually get the biggest show-stoppers--my most famous song is about green beans, done in an opera style, for some reason.

I''m usually singing any song that pops into my head and/or ones that I jsut heard recently. At the monment (literally) I''m practically belting out the words to "Voices That Care," which I just wrote about in the song thread I began last night (songs that give you the chills).

Make it stop, make it stop!

I sing "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor.

We should start a club : Cat crooners anonymous!

Ahahaha! Well, I like to sing lots of things and sing practically all the time, actually .... On long trips or when hiking, I like to sing ''The Quartermaster''s Store'' song ... ''The Bear went over the mountain''... Sometimes I sing Leonard Cohen songs in the shower. And I looooove singing the American national anthem, even though I''m not American. That is one rousing tune.

I also make up lots of songs about my friends! Many of them have their own themesong which they sometimes call me up to hear. My FI made one up about me in return. It is extremely silly.

Indy...if you can sing that song you are an American! Many can''t. So, I say..you are in.

I hate to print this next tune...as it is a mind worm...so if you don''t wan''t to repeat it...don''t read it...

Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy...

Raindrops keep falling on my head

Rhinestone Cowboy.

That is my entire list. My non music accompany list. Can sing will travel. § (not really can''t carry a tune...but I try)

I had a storybook about Francis Scott Key when I was a little girl, and I don't know why, but I just loved that storybook! So I think that's why I still know all the words, and why the song is so visual and immediate for me. I can really FEEL how it must have felt to be a captive, prevented from joining the battle, only seeing it from afar, and not to know whether the flag is still "gallantly streaming"... It's so vivid for me.

OK, People! Read the poem and tell me it doesn't stir your soul. I bet half of you didn't even know it has multiple verses!

The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Looks to me like your bleed red white and blue, with star or two thrown in for good measure! Our country is a great one...it was founded by some incredibly dedicated men and that song really can get you if you really listen...and like you did...picture what they went through.

I find it shameful that Americans know the words to Beyonce''s latest, but when we are to sing...they fumble and mumble the anthems.

You guys are hilarious!
I am sometimes known to sing Roberta Flack''s version of "Killing Me Softly," and Dusty Springfield''s "Son of a Preacher Man."
