I found myself really drawn to the interesting diamond cuts...aside from the modern brilliant rounds.
What are the other types of cuts not found in this picture below? Please share (with pictures!!) :)

p/s: I am shocked that there are cuts in the shape of a Christmas Tree and Horse Head! :lol-2:

My favorite is rose cut diamond.

Here’s a picture:
This rose cut diamond is not a flat cut rose cut diamonds. These half hoop is Georgian and the rose cut diamonds are chubby and have high crown.

This is so cool! I have never heard of rose cut diamonds until today. Definitely a conversation starter! I wonder, how does it sparkle differently from the MRB?

Btw, I did a google on rose cut diamonds to find out more.....and found more interesting cuts! :kiss2:

I the the Jubilee cut diamond is pretty.

I have never seen one in person however I have seen jubilee cut gemstones that aren't diamonds.

You might find this post interesting.

Something along the lines of rose cut would be polki and portrait cuts!

This is a portrait cut:

I was trying to look for a pic of un set polki but I couldn’t find one. This is what it looks like set:

This is personal taste of course with no right or wrong but why I am not a big fan of rose cut diamonds or portrait cut diamonds is the sparkle factor or rather the lack of sparkle factor IMO.

However, many adore rose cut diamonds (@joelly ) and there is no right or wrong.

What I do enjoy about them. They possess old world charm and romance. The negative (for me) is they resemble glass and fall short on fire and brilliance. They don't return light well because they are flat on the bottom.

They do have a lovely shimmer instead of sparkle though and many enjoy that. They are subtle not flashy so there's that too. Another plus people enjoy is that they appear larger for the same carat size compared to non rose cut diamonds.

Here are some examples of portrait cut diamonds. From Jogani's site.

Lovely ring. I love the high chunky crown. I definitely get the appeal. It is subtle and romantic and full of old world charm.

portrait cut is very interesting! at the first glance, it doesn't look like a typical diamond! :mrgreen2:

Yes, very subtle charm indeed. They are more glassy looking compared to the other diamond cuts...but there is definitely this romantic vibe about them. :kiss2:

I quite like the look of step cut hexagons like these Moissy as currently listed in Golden Bird on Etsy:

I love step cuts too! I wonder what type of cuts are these called? Step haxagons i guess?

There are the Ashokas too.Tiffany tends to offer sth unique: it used to be the Lucinda and now there’s the True.

Nearly missed this...Ashokas are aka as crisscuts too? I think there is a PSer here who owns a very pretty crisscut. Is Lucinda a type of radiant cut? The Tiffany True looks very similar to the Lucinda...

Oh yes jubilee cut is the best. It’s like looking at a mirror or disco ball.

I have never seen any in real life though. Maybe someday.

Yes definitely personal I agree. Rose cut diamonds, they do lack of sparkle which we see in mrb, omc and oec. But I love the subtlety in them. I’m still on the look out for a dream rose cut diamond ring. I feel that when I wear it, nobody will immediately take an interest and I won’t immediately look bling-bling

I am hooked on Georgian era rose cut diamond rings. The Georgian, they do the best presentation of rose cut diamonds.

But again, it’s a personal taste and not for everyone.

portrait cut!

Once I saw someone was wearing a dangling portrait cut diamond earrings. It looks so heavenly. I never thought I would want them now ;-)

I kind of love the JannPaul Decagon cut.
