Some of my all-time favorites for Christmas:

Luciano Pavarotti "O Holy Night"; -- The man with the golden voice!

James Galway''s "Christmas Carol" -- He of the golden flute! The choir is from King''s School in Canterbury.

King''s College "Christmas Carols" - Love that sound.

Stephen Paulus "Carols for Christmas" with the Dale Warland Singers - The DW Singers were based in Minneapolis, but disbanded when Dale Warland retired a few years ago. Very unique, very pure choral sound. Beautiful!!

And, I am anxiously awaiting the release next week of Paul Potts'' "One Chance - Christmas Edition". Thanks to Gypsy for letting me know about Paul in this thread. Link Paul is so awesome. I think he is going to go far!!!

DKS yeah i linked that thread from a few years ago. i just really still like my old favorites the best!!

I listen to/love Jimmy Buffett''s Christmas Island and James Taylor''s Christmas album a lot (all year long, actually). Love the classics, of course, and have a Trans Siberian Orchestra album that I also enjoy. Have several "So This Is Christmas" albums (or something like that, the charity one). Oh, and every year a friend makes a mixed CD for me, with the caption "Who the Hell Wants to Listen to Christmas Music All Month Long." They always have a funny theme (80s stripper music, etc.) and are hysterical and a great break from hearing Jingle Bells for the 1,000th time.

My all time favorite is a 3 CD set that Pottery Barn put out 1999 0r 2000 "A Cool Christmas"

Them this year I am enjoying Josh Grobans "Noel" (his voice is like velvet)

Johnny Mathis The Christmas Album

Jingle Bell Jazz

Mannheim Steamroller, any of them

Oh! and another Pottery Barn set " Christmas Trilogy"

I have tons of Christmas music, been playing it for about 2 weeks already.

Hmmm, that''s twice now JB has been mentioned....I just can''t picture the same guy who sings Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise doing Christmas songs. It has now peaked my curiosity to the point I must put this on the list!

Ellen, it''s Christmas music with Bufett flair. Lyrics like "Ho ho ho and a bottle of rum, Santa''s run off to the Carribean..." He does a few classics, a little Hawaiian, Mele Kalikimaka, a song about sailing , A Sailor''s Christmas, of course. It''s definitely not traditional, but it''s a fun little CD, especially if you''re a parrothead (hooray for your hubby having great taste, Elmorton!

I wouldn''t mind having a Celine Dion CD.

SDL, does yours have the duet with Andrea Bocelli of The Prayer? That song will make me stop what I''m doing every time.

However, I just counted all my xmas cd''s this morning as I was organizing, and at 35, I need another one like I need a hole in my head.

I love almost anyone singing Ave Maria, as well.. its one that will always stop me from what I'm doing..
I may be repeating myself, as I've said this to so many people, I don't remember if I've said it here.

I have a friend who should have been a professional opera singer, but she got married and started having kids instead, so it never happened. She even had some formal training.

Not one, and I mean out of ALL the renditions of that song that I've heard over the years, compares to hers. I'm not kidding.

She sang it (as she is always requested at the weddings of our friends kids) at a wedding last summer. I was so enthralled listening to her, I had goosebumps, and as I looked around at the congregation, people were literally crying. It's that moving. And it was all the talk at the reception.

I've told her repeatedly she should record it. She is unbelievable. *sigh*

Charlie Brown Christmas. Hands down.
