And it drives my cats bonkers!

I also have a Bing Crosby Christmas CD, Mantovani and Nat King Cole.
I had never heard of them, that I recall. I''m listening to their Stranger in Paradise right now. Beautiful!!

Yesterday didn''t go as planned, so I''m hitting the stores today. I went back through this thread, and found I''d missed Ebree''s link to Paul Potts. WOW!

Ok,Target had a pitiful selection. I ended up just getting Celine Dion''s, These Are Special Times. I haven''t had a chance to listen to it, will do that later.

I have a homemade CD I burned a couple of years ago.

My favorite songs from that CD that have NOT been mentioned on here:

Faith Hill: O Holy Night (Might be sacriliege but it is my favorite version)
Jewel: Silent Night
Bing Crosby and David Bowie- Peace on Earth-Little Drummer Boy
(Mentioned, but I love it so I'm mentioning it again: Bing Crosby's: Do you Hear What I hear)
Home Alone Soundtrack- John William- Carol of the Bells
Bruce Springstein's - Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Beatles Paul McCartney- Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time
Beatles John Lennon-- So this is Christmas

Thanks for the Barenaked Ladies God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen recommendation-- I love it!

HI:

Galaxie (satalite radio)--CBC has a Christmas channel; and it is great. I''ve found my Christmas music buddy!

cheers--Sharon

There is this remix of Bing''s "Happy Holidays" and I love it. itunes it killing me.

Did anyone catch Olivia Newton John on the Today Show I think it was, yesterday morning?

First of all, she went too far with the Botox. I thought she looked awful, and she WAS so pretty!

She is releasing a xmas cd, and she sang a song from it. I thought she sounded bad. I was shocked, and disappointed, as I was sure I'd want to get it. Not now.

LOL, DH will listen to Jimmy Buffett overandoverandover again. I bought him the Christmas CD last year and he kept it on for at least 6 hours straight while he put some toys together. I ended up hiding it after the holiday was over!
11.gif

I will admit though, my favorite Christmas CD is Christina Aguilera''s, which drives DH equally nuts!
32.gif

But I just love her!!

Hubby and I went shopping in St. Louis yesterday, and in all our wandering, we didn''t see one music store.
33.gif
So, we''re going to try and specifically hit one up today.

is anyone with direct tv listening to # 849 with the holiday classics on?

i find that every year we get lazier and lazier about pulling out our actual xmas cd''s and just listen to the tv cable channels because they play such a great variety. right now it''s playing Ring Christmas Bells by Ray Coniff with a choir. Someone I''d never think to look for but it''s an awesome version.

Any Cambridge Singers CD''s, especially Christmas Night. They have so many beautiful old Christmas carols that you don''t usually hear.

Amen and Hallelujah! (I mean no sacrilege)

I have two -- one for home -- one for car -- and I have the songs downloaded onto the computer to use at work!

There are ONLY two songs of the secular variety that are up there with the perfection of these: Bing's White Christmas (the original) and Nat's The Christmas Song (1960ish version). Many have tried to become Christmas classics; most have failed. These have stood the test of time, and have remained mega-popular.

I love almost anyone singing Ave Maria, as well.. its one that will always stop me from what I''m doing..
Oh, yes. I sang in my high school choir and we sang the Ave Maria. I so miss singing in a choir at Christmas time. There''s nothing like it. Choir Christmas music is the BEST!

I forgot to mention the Carpenters. I heard Karen Carpenter on the radio yesterday singing, "Merry Christmas, Darling." I still remember her Christmas special from like, 1975???

Montovani is classic as well.

I love just about all Christmas music.

A few of my faves are:

Trans Siberian Orchestra (The past two years they have performed in my state on my Bday... what a bday present!!!) Not this year though and I don''t think i''m gonna get to go
8.gif

Elvis Presley''s Blue Christmas... Just isn''t Christmas without hearing Blue Christmas at least once!

I have a few "Various Artist" CDs with some songs on them that I like also.

I was going to ask... There are a couple songs on the radio around Christmas time that are by Manheim Steamroller (spelling?) that I like... I would actually like to see them perform sometime. I have thought of getting their Christmas CD... is it pretty good? They kind of remind me of TSO but a little different.

Great Thread!
