Well, nothing says ''Happy Holidays'' like Mr. Lippy, the Dancing Banana!

Lump, yanno, I love that song Karen sings, and bought their xmas CD a few years ago, thinking I''d love it. I didn''t...

Thanks mirre!

I don''t typically like her songs (a very very limited number)... BUT I do like Dolly Parton''s "White Candy Christmas" and the version of "Baby It''s Cold Outside" from the movie ELF I think that version is Rod Stewart and Dolly Parton (Which I do not like Rod Stewart) There''s something about Christmas music that changes people''s voices to me for some reason... I am not a Beatles fan there''s a couple I like but I love some of their Christmas songs.

Also someone had asked about Andrea Bocelli (spelling?) and Celine Dion singing "The Prayer"... I found a version of that one youtube last year... but it was Josh Groban and Celine Dion....

AMAZING! His voice.... AMAZING! That''s all I can say.

If I think of more I''ll post them... having a hard time thinking right now.

(BTW I watched the Jingle Cats video, without sound my computer doesn''t have it, HILARIOUS! my eyes were watering and I was having a hard time not laughing out loud!) I''m going to have to figure out a way to HEAR it.

I love almost anyone singing Ave Maria, as well.. its one that will always stop me from what I''m doing..
Oh, yes. I sang in my high school choir and we sang the Ave Maria. I so miss singing in a choir at Christmas time. There''s nothing like it. Choir Christmas music is the BEST!

I forgot to mention the Carpenters. I heard Karen Carpenter on the radio yesterday singing, ''Merry Christmas, Darling.'' I still remember her Christmas special from like, 1975???

Montovani is classic as well.
Karen, singing ''Merry Christmas, Darling'', is a favorite of mine too! Makes me very nostalgic.

mirre: I find that Paul McCartney singing "simply having a wonderful Christmas time" can make me very cranky! Bah Humbug!

Hey ellen: it''s right up there with Harry Connick''s ''When My Heart Finds Christmas''!!!!!
9.gif

And some of this crap (and I use the term loosely as it stinks considerably more than that!) that has been recorded lately by the flavor of the month R&B singers and pop tarts is just mind-numbingly gosh awful!! What I can''t believe is that there was a record producer - somewhere - who said "that''s great; let''s put it on a CD!"

I know, let''s start a thread of the worst CDs or songs! It''ll be like KimberelyH''s ornament thread.

However, I will NOT post HC's When My Heart Finds Christmas.

And I agree, some of these people should stick to their genre.....

One of my absolute fave singles is All I want For Cristmas by Vince Vance and the Valiants.

Remember the video from the eighties of VV and the Valiants?? Are we dating ourselves? Yup!

Okay, I''ll add another groaner: Wham''s ''Next Christmas'', no matter which no talent is singing it; and it seems like everyone has a version of it out there to annoy us in every grocery store, every W-M, every mall.

I''ve chosen some pretty lame-o songs as contenders for "Most Obnoxious"; anyone got something to top my picks?

There''s one by Mariah Carey that drives me nuts it may be her version of "Santa Baby" but I can''t be sure because I turn it each time it comes on.

Dogs in 3 states around howl when Mariah Carey''s voice hits the airwaves!

But, have you seen the VS commercial with Heidi Klum singing ''Santa Baby''? She''s so cute! I''m fully heterosexual (and spoken for!), and I find her adorable!

I just saw that last night... twice actually the second time wasn't as cute as the first (guess that happens alot if you see a commercial twice in 30 minutes lol) but I LOVED her little outfit TOO CUTE! I also like the "favorite things" commercial but mostly just the song, the commercial I could get over.

I'm a marketing major and just finished my advertising class so I'm in the habit of picking commercials apart lol... pretty annoying for me actually.

I noticed the Now collection and it has lots of different artists and very cool!

''A Charlie Brown Christmas'' by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. It is the BEST. Only $7 at Amazon.

Amen and Hallelujah! (I mean no sacrilege)

I have two -- one for home -- one for car -- and I have the songs downloaded onto the computer to use at work!

There are ONLY two songs of the secular variety that are up there with the perfection of these: Bing''s White Christmas (the original) and Nat''s The Christmas Song (1960ish version). Many have tried to become Christmas classics; most have failed. These have stood the test of time, and have remained mega-popular.
You have two copies of it?! Man, and I had thought *I* was the biggest fan of that album! I think you might have me beat!
3.gif

Actually, now that I think about it, I''m a little unsure of what to get my boyfriend''s sister for Christmas...might pick her up a copy and act as an ambassador of excellent Christmas music!

Get her the CD and DVD! It is perfect for anyone who''s a boomer or younger.

Oh, I gotta tell you. . . we couldn''t get the fake fir we wanted from Target (sold out nationwide), so we got a 2 ft living tree to plant after the holidays. Dave has dubbed it our "Charlie Brown" tree!
