This is a TOTALLY random question but I'm procrastinating at the moment. I should be doing work for tomorrow but I keep glancing at my newly painted nails. I love the new color I got (OPI's "Nice Color, Eh?") but it's not really wedding-appropriate. That got me wondering for some reason what others are planning on doing. Will you get a manicure before your wedding, and if so, will you get a French manicure, go with clear polish, a pale color, or will you go all out and do COLOR? As I said, totally random thought but I thought I'd ask anyway.

if it''s my own wedding, i will decide what is ''wedding-appropriate''. my nails will definitely NOT be clear, pale, or french manicured. i love colour!! haha.

i just visited the opi site. i like the polish you have!! and i made a small observation.
it is called ''nice color, eh?''...and ''eh?'' is a canadian phrase, but the spelling of ''color'' is the american way.
oh...and the new india collection is gorgeous!! i want the red-orange colour already.

I wonder why French manicures seem to be the most popular choice? I''ve never gotten a manicure before but I''m looking forward to getting one for my wedding. I think I want to go with something a little different than bright white tips.

I was at the mall with a friend the other day and we both bought a few polishes. One was called "I''m Not Really a Waitress" and I had to buy it (not so much for the color but the name made me laugh). I don''t really like that one but I love the first one I posted about. I just went to OPI''s site and I love so many of their colors.

no idea why. i guess it''s just what a lot of people like!! i''ve only had one french manicure before and, coincidentally, it was the day i took pictures of my engagement ring. my nails are very strong and were all the same, long length...so i thought i''d try out a french manicure.
zoe, if you don''t want bright white tips you can get a clear pink-ish shade for the topcoat instead. look at my posting history, there should be pics of my ring/manicure for reference.
first manicure, huh?? go for the mani/pedi combo...but beware, they are very fun and addictive. haha.

Yeah, that''s what I''ll probably do. Yep, first mani (and pedi, for that matter). I''ve never felt the need to spend the money for them but I think I''ll quickly grow to love the experience. I do my own nails all the time though -- it''s fun to try new colors. I have to get back to work but I''ll check out your pics later on.

I am boring. French or sheer pale nudes on my fingers, dark colors on toes til Spring/Summer.

i had an american (??) manicure on my nails - it's a bit softer than the french mani
for the toes i wore mademoiselle by essie

zoe, it''s on the ''under 1ct'' subject on the ''show me the ring'' forum. there are a looootta pages. i''m on page 18. save you looking through all those pages...

I''m gonna do a pale nude/pink color. No French manicure. I have short nails and like to keep it that way. The only other color that I like on my nails is red or deep burgundy but I know my photographer will be doing some black and white shots, and I think red/burgundy will come out as black in the photos. So I''ll just stick to pale nudes!

I had a french manicure and pedicure for my wedding...which is pretty much a timeless look...but lately a lot of brides have been going for a lot more "pop" when it comes to nail/toe color. I''ve seen a lot of reds, wines, sheers, pinks (both hot and baby)...and even, black!

Weddings aren''t really what they used to be (extremely formal) and lately brides have been redefining the rules--just look at the polka dot trend!! I''d say, when it comes to your personal beauty on yor wedding day be as daring as you feel comfortable with! If you want rich, cranberry nails...no one can stop you!

I was actually just thinking about this! I usually wear nudes or sheer pinks, and I just got a manicure with the best nude color, it makes my hands look so nice. HOWEVER, my FI loves dark red nail polish on my hands, so I was thinking about doing that for he day of our wedding instead of my regular nude color.

I have very short nails, so I opted for a light pink (more peachy than pale petal color) for our wedding - and I kinda regret it - should have gone with the french! It looks so nice in photos. (I thought color would be easier to fix in a pinch, low maintenance, etc) I scraped off all the polish by mid-honeymoon and the pic of our rings together on our honeymoon with my natural nails looks a lot prettier than the one actually from our wedding with the color polish. C''est la vie.

it is great to be adventurous, but I would hesitate on my wedding day. Just me, but...

I love the classic look of french or pale pink. The tone depends on your individual skin tone. I also love short nails in dark red or burgundy. Filed square, short nails look great that way.

Hi Zoe!

As you know, I work with my hands a lot teaching second grade and making jewelry just about every night at home, so no matter how I try to keep them up on my own, it is a fruitless endeavor. I get "pink and white" nails done about once a month...mine are an acrylic overlay on top of my own nails and my nail guy is the best! I haven''t had tips put on in years, and he takes everything off every time and just puts acrylic on top of my own nails, which is the only thing I have found that works for me.

I also love the color and variety of polish, but I wear it off in no time and it ends up looking horrible, even with the acrylic overlays. With the white tips and pink nail beds permanent all of the time, I can just paint my own nails whenever I want and still whip it right off with polish remover, add a clear topcoat and have a french manicure underneath in a flash, though I have left my fingernails with the french manicure for about 2 1/2 years now. You can see my "pink & white" nails in my hand pictures of my ring posts if that helps you at all...the white doesn''t come off, even with nail polish, while a ''polished on'' french manicure would never last for me.

My toe colors vary, but I will also do a french manicure for my toes for my wedding, as well, possibly with a small flower on each of my big toes with a light blue center rhinestone for my "something blue." Right now they are a dark mocha color by Rimmel!

I wear red nail polish every single day haha. My favorite is OPI''s An Affair in Red Square.

I think you should do your nails any color you love that won''t clash with your wedding colors. Example: If you have a bright pink bouquet and bright red nails. Egads! I don''t think there is anything wrong with colored nails at your wedding though.

mine will be french manicure. I can never grow my nails out so the french manicure has a way of making it look like i have some white nail part on the end when i don''t. I guess i could get acrylic...I dont know.

Same for my feet. but I am tempted to put a blue flower on my big toe or something like that (wed colors are blue and brown)

I had my usual color for my wedding mani/pedi...Essie "Mademoiselle", you just cant go wrong with a sheer, pretty pink.

I always get mani/pedis. I usually do some crazy purpley color on my toes and my nails are always acrylic with a gel top. I usually do a twist on the french manicure by getting purple sparkle, pink sparkle or silver sparkle acrylic powder on the tips. For the wedding I will do a normal french manicure with white acrylic power for the tips. I don''t like fake tips on my nails and I keep them reasonably lengthed. I am not a fan of the big fake over long nailed wedding photos.

I think I''ll probably just go with a french manicure on my fingers and maybe blue on my toes. Not sure yet though about the toes.

I used to keep my nails longer than they are now, but lately I''ve preferred more "sporty nails" (slightly rounded). I have pale skin (maybe with pink undertones), so some colors look great and others look horrible. I experiment more with color in the summer. I try to keep my toes pained as well , especially in the summer. Sometimes they match my nails and sometimes they don''t. I think I''ll try a few pale pinks after I get tired of the color I have on now and see how that looks with my engagement ring and wedding band.

I did a white silvery colour for my wedding.

violet, i LOVE purple. the russain collection by OPI has a lot of really great purples. ''catherine the grape'' is my favourite. http://www.opi.com/Russian.asp

I don''t wear nailpolish or long nails on a daily basis cause I can''t for my job. Sometimes I do a coat of clear polish. I''ve also never gotten a manicure or pedicure!

For the wedding I want to keep them short and will probably either use a clear polish or a sheer pink. I don''t like the look of french manicures, they just sort of look fake to me? And I don''t like the way they look on feet either cause it makes it look like the toenails are way long. I might do a darker color on the toes cause I''m wearing peep-toe shoes, so not much will show. If I did anything other than sheer pink, it would probably be a muted red, though.

What can I say, I''m really conservative about nails

I love nude polish, so that's what I'll be wearing. Now I just need to stop biting my nails....FI is in his second week of quitting smoking and our deal was that I have to quit biting my nails when he quits smoking. I'm not doing a great job so far

and I hate wearing fake nails so that's not an option.

I would do dark red, I love dark red polish, but I want plenty of black an white photos and I don't want my nails looking black. I'll definitely be doing dark red on my toes though, I love Revlon's Vixen. I haven't been able to find one I like as much in OPI or Essie, and I actually find Revlon stays on really well.
