I want to set my BB blue tourmaline (3.1ct, 9.1mm) in this LOGR lotus design

I have set my red/pink tourm in this ring and totally love it. (see more pictures here)

The question is, what color metal shall I use? I am not a yellow gold person and have been partial to WG. However, I''ve heard that YG do enhance blue color stones. Shall I make it two tone? I am hesitating since that may cause the ring to loose it''s clean look. The blue tourm is medium to medium dark slightly greenish blue.

What do you all think?

I'm also not a yellow person and would say white gold all the way. I just can't see that stone with YG; something about it just screams WG to me. That said, I have a two-tone lotus ring from Sally that looks great with a WG shank and YG head. It certainly doesn't lose a bit of its clean look, so I wouldn't worry about that.

ETA: I'm sure MTG will chime in since she recently had a blue-green tourmaline set in YG. I think hers was more neon and more bluish, with yours being more teal. IMO, yours lends itself a lot more to WG.

Ditto Jstar, definitely white gold.

If it''s a "clean" color i.e. if you don''t see grey in it, I''d say WG would be good. Yellow gold tends to look great with stones of stronger saturation, say, closer to the color of apatite, while I think these pastel blues might get visually overpowered by YG.

me 2!
eta: BEAUTIFUL ring! Great choice, nice substantial size!

Do you have a picture of the stone next to the setting? It’s difficult to say without seeing them side by side as I’ve seen indicolites that look good with a white metal and others that look better with a yellow metal. However, if you dislike yellow gold, then go ahead and set it in a white metal since you are more likely to wear what you prefer.

How about rose gold? I think the pinkish tones really brings out the blue in a stone.

That might really be interesting.

Yellow gold definitely. It will make the stone pop. I think white gold will bring out grey.

Gorgeous color. I vote for YG.

Your answer is highlighted in what you wrote! If you have it made in yellow gold, will you wear it as much? Possibly not. Stick with what you love.

I think it would look nice in both colors, but personally, I would prefer WG and it sounds like you would probably prefer it also. I really like that setting and the color of the stone is wonderful.. I really like teal.

Oh dear, so many opinions! Reminds me almost of MTG''s pad thread a while back.

I would vote for either white gold or rose gold

Thanks for all the suggestion! I put the stone next to the ring, and viewed in different lighting. I decide to go with white gold. Will take pictures when it is done, I promise! Thanks again!

Oh good. I am really wanting a WG RHR so that''s my vote. Please post photos when you can.
