Hey there, this is my first post. I inherited a yellow gold Edwardian engagement ring a while back and would like to reset it. It is yellow gold and has a thin 1.5 mm band. When I got engaged, I got a classic tiffany style ring, so for this ring I want something very different. Right now the ring has a 7/8 of a carat round sapphire set in it. I was thinking of getting either a yellow or pink diamond, the ring itself is yellow gold with a orange blossom design on the band.Is a yellow or pink diamond appropriate for an Edwardian ring? What cut would you suggest?

Is the ring 14K YG or 18K YG? I'm guessing the current stone is close to 6 mm? When considering replacing the stone with a different one, it is best to go by the millimeter measurement which is more accurate. In terms of gemstone colour, a pink diamond might get washed out by the yellow gold metal but a yellow diamond will be enhanced by the yellow gold colour. Since the original stone is a round, I would presume that the setting only fits a round shape so you'll most likely have to look for rounds as well. I don't think I've ever seen coloured diamonds in Edwardian rings, only white diamonds, ruby and blue sapphire.
