Lucky lucky...I''m hoping to get one of those necklaces for my birthday...either that or an iPod.

I got some flowers and a card. He got a card.

We decided a year or two ago that we shouldn''t give presents for Valentine''s day anymore because we were spending too much on presents every year.
7.gif
So instead, he just got me flowers, and cooked me a woooonderful dinner (farfalle with a tomato mascarpone sauce with roasted red peppers, drizzled with a balsamic glaze!!! his own recipe!!!) and we pulled out the computer table into the middle of the room and made it into a real dining table (we usually have to eat either in the kitchen or on the coffee table) with candles and music and everything. Then we made each other handmade cards out of construction paper but wrote super nice fun things inside, and it was sooo perfect!

He got home late from work emptyhanded and asked if we could have Valentines Day tonight since it's his day off. When I got up at 5:30 this morning he was still on the computer doing work

on no sleep. We'll see what he accomplishes today

eta: I received a nice, sweet card

I got beautiful flowers at work (with a card)!...

We couldn''t spend it together because my family was in town...so we are celebrating our v-day this weekend!. Not sure if he''ll get me somehting else, but the flowers were enough to make me smile all day!

Right now I''m having to make some huge decisions that are job-related but will affect our relationship (because of the nature of the job offers). So this weekend will be a big "discussion" weekend.....hopefully it will all turn out ok though. I told him it was kind of unfair that I am the one that has to make this job decisions without knowing how it will affect our plans because all I know is that we are getting married sometime in 2007.....
40.gif
So I know he should be part of my decisions, but I don''t know to what extent I should let that be my priority. Very confusing...

I got a new digital camera! Its RED, Kodak easy share V530! Maybe now I can get some good pics of my ring!

I think you should take the ring out of the microwave, put it on, and then thank him for the wondeful Valentine''s gift.

He made me dinner (salmon marinated in balsamic vinegar (I eat fish, to those of you who remembered I don''t eat meat), garlic, and olive oil, rice pilaf, and roasted veggies...), with a small loaf or rosemary bread and iced green tea. He also bought me some Oreo Ice Cream sammiches. My gift (other than the flowers at work) was a new alarm clock from the discovery store, it projects the time on the ceiling! It''s one of those automatic setters, just have to plug it in! I love it.

all in all sounds like everyone had a good day/night....
i told him that i didnt want anything because we are going on vacation in 21 days! and we needed to save some cash..but who am i to turn down jewlery?!?!?!

i made him a giant homemade card with glitter in all... he thought that was pretty sweet... i

we honestly don''t celebrate V Day. He made dinner and dessert (ice cream with home made dulce de lache - not sure on the spelling there!) and I had made him a card at a craft party a couple of weeks ago but that was it.

and I still had an awesome day - even with all the ladies in the office coming in to ask why I hadn''t gotten any flowers!
(um - my cats eat flowers for appetizers so they are really wasted on me! thank you very much)

Ha - I took it out of the microwave and put the box on my dresser next to all of my other jewelry. (he keeps his belonging in our bedroom and my wardrobe, accessories, etc are all in the spare bedroom)

If he were to propose, he''d have a heart attack because the ring isn''t where he left it or he''d have a hard time finding it - even though it does sit out plain as day.

But seriously, I had to bite my tongue not to say, well since you didn''t make time, I mean have time to go shopping, I know the perfect present and it won''t cost you anything

We actually celebrated a little early since my son was off on a sleepover. We went to dinner and the food was great! Then went to a movie. Last night, I made my son and him a fondue dinner which was fun and everyone liked it. Then he gave me a card, the movie Notebook (b/c he has decided that I will absolutely love it given the hopeless romantic that I am) and a tshirt with two hearts intertwined with our names in the hearts. It is so cute, I just want to hang it on a wall somewhere. I''m not sure i''ll have the nerve to wear it outside but he already knew that. I gave him a card, tickets to Wicked and a coupon book. It was a fun holiday...
For those who had dinners cooked for them, it sure sounded good!!

sound wonderful.. i love the movie the Notebook... anytime i want a good cry.. i just pop that baby in... and it is all over from there!

I have heard nothing but wonderful reviews about Wicked.. i want to see it as well.. but i cant take off of work to get there.. grrrrrrrrr

I''m definitely not taking off work to go to Wicked, although I wish I could. I''m in the chgo. area and they have night shows as well as weekend shows. I couldn''t afford the weekend so we''re going for an evening. You really have to call in order to find reasonable tickets b/c online, everything says it''s booked or waaaaay toooooo expensive.

my sweetie sent me a huge floral bouquet to my work. and i came home to an awesome meal! we both cook, but on Heart day he goes all out. we had baked tilapia with hints of pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, and it was topped with lump crab meat. he also steamed some king crab legs with garlic-lime melted butter. and a side of my fav.- brocelli (sp?)

he got me an awesome once-in-a-lifetime card. it was a happy v-day fiancée card!

dinner was followed by a non-romantic movie that we had at home (netflix) - girl, interupted.

it was a fab. night.

I might have to start a thread because I just had the best Valentine''s Day ever. We went away for the weekend & my gift to him was the trip package (great Travelzoo deal) which was: Vermont inn, four course dinner, spa access, chocolates & champagne on arrival. We ended up in a huge suite with living room, fireplace, votive candles everywhere, 2 tvs (we love Olympics) & a four poster bed we had to literally climb into.

His gifts to me while we were there: snowmobiling excursion (I''ve always, always wanted to try it), hour-long massage at the inn''s Aveda spa, and while we were at the Vermont Country store he sneakily purchased a MOXIE SODA t-shirt (I collect vintage soda signs & stuff) and a bag of those Sweetheart candies.

Totally one of those dreamy, out of a movie kind of trips. And gosh darn it -- with all the V-day''s I spent A-L-O-N-E or unhappy ... I appreciate it so, so, so much MORE!!!

sounds dreamy!!! I need a massage so bad!

He got me the most beautiful bouquet of two-tone roses from Whole Foods. I just adore the two-tone look in roses and tulips, these are cream that graduates into pink on the tips, and they smell nice as well!
30.gif
This is the very first bouquet of flowers that has not been picked up at Albertson''s, and it was a definate improvement over last year''s. (Okay, so I''m a snob).

I also got a huge bar of Valhrona chocolate and a giant heart shaped box of chocolate from somewhere. He tried so hard to find me a box of chocolate without any of the fruit flavored ones that I don''t have the heart to tell him most of these have strawberry or orange marchmellow goo in them. It''s the thought that counts.
The best part was that he made me his special pasta sauce that takes an hour and a half of prep time! I just love his cooking, and it was so sweet of him to take the time considering school and work pressures.

I got him a nice card, some white chocolate (hopefully nice), hand cream (it sooooo dry here), and two sudoku books. I wanted to get him something that would help relax him, and sudoku makes for a great break. Oh, and I also hid reese''s peanut butter hearts around his place. He still hasn''t found the last one!

akw- i am in wisconsin and i can afford the weekend, and the nights wouldnt work for me either... you will have to let me know how it is.. my mother is going sometime in may... she asked me to go with her and her friend.. however she said I had to buy my ticket..
oh well...

I am just so happy everyone had a nice day... sounds like alot of wonderful meals were prepared.. thank goodness it is almost quiting time here at work so i can go home and start supper or else i would be hitting the vending machine up for some goodies :)

I got a pizza!!

Actually we''re waiting to celebrate because of a huge mongous utilities bill due now!!

On a much sweeter note, my 14 year old daughter has a boyfriend and his mother called me a couple of days ago and said he wanted to get her a promise ring, would I mind. I told her she''d love one since that seems to be the thing at her school right now. I told her she liked white gold instead of yellow and her ring size. So the BF and his mom came over yesterday to the ''presenting of the ring''. The kids were like ''Gosh, do you have to watch?'' so we went into another room. It was so sweet. I don''t really see any harm in a promise ring at this age. I mean, all they do is talk on the phone or visit each other and his mom or myself is always home.

I''m glad SOMEONE in my house got some bling for vday

Not to alarm you but I think my mom was home when I was 15 the first time I......

Not too romantic, but a) A puma school bag
b) A pair of air max Nikes
c) Made me a card
d) two chocolate heart box things (I find them so tradition valentine''s day that I love them)

Fortunatly, due to home renovations my daughter has no bedroom door and I can see in there from the living room when they are in there(the computer, dvd player and stereo are all in there otherwise they''d be in the living room) and his mom makes them stay in the family room. So hopefully we are safe for now.

My fantastic boyfriend got me an iPod, 3 Valentine''s day cards ( I love cards) and that cute roaring red lion from the Hallmark commercial.

I got him a Nike jacket and the Alias and Smallville first season DVD collection.

It was a great day.

My boyfriend gave me beautiful red roses, the most thoughtful card, and a dvd about corrective haircoloring that I have been dying to have. He also took me out to a great dinner. He is the sweetest valentine I have ever had. Even though there was no proposal, I had a great time. We talked about when we were first going out, and how happy we both are, it was great.

I got him a big box of godiva chocolates, and gave him money to buy his xbox.

my man gave me two pirate comedy novellas. seriously?!? i was kind of confused, but we do have a long running joke of how sometimes i can act like a pirate -- so i got the reference, but still...hmmmm. got to love the thought
face23.gif

i got him an antique map of vermont. he loves old maps and this one was from the 1800''s and we''re getting married in VT -- so it was a pretty perfect present. perhaps i should have saved it

Deco: I''m so glad you had a magical time -- castlehill is where our reception will be - -out in the tent. i''d love to know more about how your spa experience went. i''ve never had a facial/massage and i''m pretty excited to be pampered

ah, Valentines''s day......

weeeell, here''s the scoop: I think it''s a silly "holiday"
16.gif
I know, I know, I''m scrooge or whatever the anti-Valentine''s equivelant is called! My husband and I both agree it''s just another way women con men into spending cash on them and making them feel guilty if the men don''t quite meet the unspoken requirements of gift-giving.
9.gif
So I never ask him or expect him to get me anything, as I don''t get him anything. We put alot of effort into our birthdays and anniversary instead.

That being said, we actually did perhaps "celebrate" it in a roundabout way, I suppose. It was unintentional. I actually had the day off since I have Tuesdays off. We ended up going to the autoshow in Chicago and had a wonderful time!! I FELL IN LOVE with a beautiful car: the new Lexus SC 430 convertible
30.gif
30.gif
Normally I''m not a Lexus person, but this car is TO DIE FOR!!! Then we went to our favorite little Thai restaurant for dinner in the city and then he indulged me and trailed behind me as I went shoe shopping in the giant Nordstrom on Wabash
36.gif
36.gif
We also went to an art gallery and looked at some beautiful paintings.

so it was a pretty wonderful day that just happened to be V-day!
16.gif
I just love spending time with my honey and it was just a perfect day - my day off, my hubby and my true love, Chicago!!

There are no shoe stores in Cornandsoytown, IL. Not even a Payless.

Overall it was really, really nice. I tried out the outdoor hot tub first, then had an aromatherapy type massage. Nice changing/locker room & treatment rooms & they give you a robe & slippers to walk around in. But I forgot to specify a female massuse, so it was a dude & he was ok, but I probably wasn''t AS relaxed as I would have been usually. FYI -- I wouldn''t have a facial the day before or day of the wedding ... skin breakouts can occur afterward! Same with body wraps etc .. They also do manicure/pedicures & that would be great pre-wedding pampering combined with a massage!

What a great place to have your reception, everyone there was so friendly & the place was gorgeous! (I also had a great dinner - so if they''re doing the food - AOK!)

Are you staying there that night?? The suite was cool & "wedding night" worthy! (Though not one of the rooms with a jacuzzi tub ... it had a clawfoot tub/shower combo)

Okay, is it sad that my old BF and I were "you know"ing while his parents where there- when I was 23? And he was 30?
emdgust.gif
And yes, the fact that he was 30 and still lived with his parents wasn''t enough to keep me away.

Good lord, what was wrong with me?
