If you counted all of the RSVPs and have a total, what do you do if more people show up than you counted on?

What do you do???

Most venues do make a few extra meals...and you can have rush/rush place settings put together.

Yes, I agree with Italia. My venue has a 3% clause that means they will prepare 3% more meals than your final count just in case.

Loriken, are you doing buffet? If so, you just give them what you think it showing up, and hope that the "extras" aren''t one of the first in line.

If it''s seated I would imagine they make a few extra, but i would definitely find out from the venue ahead of time.

She''s married, and has been a long time. So that makes me curious why she''s asking....

Ideally the above. But in reality, I''d probably just go to the caterer/organiser, explain the situation honestly, and ask what they could put together. What else can you do? But I would be seriously irritated.

The exception would be if it was a particular person/people who knew they were not invited, but came anyway. In that case, I''d have no problem politely explaining that catering numbers had already been set, but that there''s a lovely scenic McDonalds just a short drive away.

We''re thinking of renewing our vows and I would like to have a sit down dinner. It would be nice to have some idea of who all is coming without any surprises at the last minute. If we have a set number of tables and then extra people show up, it would be very awkward. Maybe we will do a buffet instead.

We didn''t do RSVPs at our wedding, but didn''t serve a meal.

Thank you LilyKat....this is PRICELESS!

Congras on your vow renewal!

We are having an extra table as stand by in case there are more folks showing up than RSVP. The place is not charging us for it if it''s unused.

Lol Lori! I didn''t realize you guys were going to renew your vows! Where at? Can I come?

Sure Liz...come on over! We''re in the early planning stage, but this WILL happen! I''m just trying to figure out the meal part and am freaking out about having too many people and too little food.

Venues always make more. What if a server drops a plate or someone sends something back to the kitchen. They will always be prepared to serve several more. And they know the number can fluctuate up or down without the bride even knowing.

it happened at my wedding, but there unfortunately were 2 deaths in the family of a few of our guests - so we ended up having food and what not. Then we had like 30 crashers friends of the groomsmen, that just showed up for the free booze but not during dinner... it also happened at my bros wedding, where several of his frat bros showed up, but they showed up after dinner. most crashers know they are crashing, and don''t really want the free cookie cutter food...

Hi Mere!

Maybe I posted in the wrong thread, but I knew I would find the right answers here. Is there a Married Women Renewing Their Vows Thread? If so, I''ll move over there!

Thank you for the support! We''ll probably do something in the Katy area.

Sorry for the trouble!

Seriously? This really happened?
Unbelievable.

Lori--How wonderful that you''re doing a vow renewal! I''m with the other posters--the caterers will prepare extra food, it shouldn''t be a problem.
